About 25-30 seconds after opening Outlook for Mac, I get an Outlook pop up that states: Mail could not be received at this time. The server for account "name of account" returned the error "Logon failure:unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password
or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password? But no matter what I do, it will not reconnect and I have to close Outlook and start over but the problem just happens over and over again. I have contacted the hosted
exchange provider but they have not been able to resolve this. It worked fine for the first 3 hours or so when first set up yesterday but since then it has been a nightmare. I am the only one in the office running on a Mac and everyone else using new Dell
computers do not have a problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?
Outlook wasn’t able to complete this request. Microsoft may contact you about any issues you report.

Hi,
On September 19, 2012, Update 14.2.4 was releases for Office for Mac 2011, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742588.
Since that update I am having trouble syncing my folders to Google Mail. Most of the time the sync just aborts without any message. Sometimes I get an error saying that the client cannot authenticate to the Google Mail IMAP server and I can re-enter my
details. To no avail.
Most articles and blogs about this issue suggest turning off the "Send multiple commands to server simultaneously" option. Unfortunately that option is not present in the Server tab of the Advanced option of the Google Mail IMAP account I have created.
In fact, the option I can see in that tab don't match with what is described in the corresponding help documentation. See http://twitpic.com/b3or30/full. Anybody know what's going on here? Maybe
I'll need to downgrade to 14.2.3 but that feels a bit, euh, backward.
Thx for any hints on how to fix this! Regards, Vincent.
Since I got changed over to Outlook last week (hate it by the way) some emails which have been sent to me don't arrive. And some emails I send don't arrive at the recipient's. I know very little about computers but have happily been using Hotmail for years
and never had a problem. Is there a simple solution or would it be best for me to open up another email account eg googlemail or gmail? I just want things to be simple (and I find the new Outlook thing complicated) so any recommendations on a very simple email
provider for us technophobic old people would be good too.
Thanks
Jane
Outlook search function doesn't work for root user on OSX 10.8.2. Spotlight index is ok cause I can search and find emails via spotlight search. In addition the search functions work perfect with another admin user. Any idea?
OS is 10.7.5 with all updates. Office 2011 with all updates up to 14.2.4
My work email is configured on Windows Outlook using cached Exchange mode (which I gather is the default for Mac Outlook, and cannot be disabled) I also have to set, under the "Connection" tab, "Connect to Microsoft Exchange uisng HTTP" and "Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange". I cannot find the equivalent of that in Mac Outlook. Further, I get zero feedback from Mac Outlook... no errors, no indication that it's even trying to do anything. I got the Progress and Errors windows open, and no matter how I try to configure my account, I don't get any information at all.
What do I need to do to get some kind of response from Outlook to start to figure out how to get my mail working?
