On my MacBook Air (2013: OS X V10.8.5, 8GB RAM, 1.7GHz), while in Outlook (Office 365 for Mac 2011), here's the scenario:  I'm looking at my email messages, and then click on the "Contacts" tab;  I get the "spinning wheel of death" for approximately 20 seconds before it will allow me to begin searching my contacts.  It's as if the program is having to index the database every single time it is accessed.  Is this common, or is there something I can/should do to make this stop from happening?  It clearly doesn't happen when using Outlook on a Windows PC.

Also, if I leave a contact window open, the fan will soon come on, and will power up to full speed.  When I close the contact window, the fan will go back to normal (which is basically off)

This question asked in windoews live mail but is general accross all windows applications using the ribbon style of menuset.
I am using a keyboard and wish to access the button portion of a split button on a menu ribbon (not the menu part)  i can TAB throughbitems on the ribbon but cannot actually activate the default choice for the split button. Example: I want to forward en email, i TAB through HOME ribbon to Forward splitbutton and activate it but this only opens the split part showing submenu -forward as attachment. How do i activate the actual forward part as both SPACE and ENTER open the splitbutton neither activate the default command.
I do not wish to use  shortcut keys (alt+h rf) for this as there are numerous other split buttons and cannot remeber every shortcut

Everything seems to be working just fine.  I just wanted to know why when I click on the icon on my desktop outlook.com does indeed come up but there is a second tab that also alows me to go to my home page as well . Is this usual or should I only see just the outlook com tab in the email application and not the additional tab to allow me to go to my home page as well. I thought in the past just the outlook tab will appear when i access the application, but maybe I was mistaken?
I am unable to print a photo without a tab.  I keep choosing borderless, but it makes no difference.  It used to work just fine, so I really don't have a clue as to what is causing the problem. Any input would help.

Thanks!

TIA to anyone who will plez try to help me (I could just throw this computer out the window no thats not going to happen but it gives you an idea of my frustration......```````sad sad   granny :-(

I want to enter a line of text, hit the tab key, enter a number, hit return to go to the next line and repeat, thereby creating a small table. Simple.

However, when I do exactly this and send the message (HTML), in the message received the tabs are ignored and replaced by single spaces, turning the previously aligned data into a jumbled mess in the recipients' email message

Having lost the ability to create tables in email with this limited version of Outlook (I switched from PC to Mac), tabbing seems to be the only way to create a quick table in Outlook:Mac email messages, short of the ridiculous idea of creating one in another application and cutting and pasting.

How then do tabs work? It seems pointless to use a tab if it is ignored or reformatted in the recipient's email.
I do not use outlook, messenger, or other option in hotmail and have no idea how. Hopefully I do not have to search for a people tab there.
After posting this I tried to go back to my hotmail acct and the screen is blue and white with the options in black down the left of the screen. I cannot access anything.
Please help.
I clicked on everything and nothing happens. it will not switch back.

I have installed the Mail part of Windows Essentials and love the format. I would now  like to see that program when I click on the Mail tab in windows 8. How do I do that?

Thanks - Chris

Windows 7 Operating System.  I just purchased a new laptop, downloaded Microsoft Windows Live Mail and installed an email account.  The only issue I have is Live Mail is not saving my sent messages.  I checked the options folder and under the "send" tab the box is checked to save sent items to "sent folder."  Is there another place I can fix this issue?

In "Windows Live Mail" I want to "remove" items that I do not use (on the "Home" tab), and add items ("Print" icon) to the tab.
