Hi I am having terrible problems with outlook and coloured categories. I have been using outlook from the office mac 2011 home and business addition on my iMac and make extensive use of the colour categories for my work calendar.  I also access my calendar on my iPad and iPhone and this is where it just doesn't seem to be compatible.  initially the calendar kept getting corrupted and duplicated and after much web trawling I found help and have now urned off the apple i-cal syncing and do not use it at all.

In trying to find a solution i have taken out a Microsoft exchange account with a new email and this works great on the iMac but on the iPhone and iPad i only get the light version when I log on regardless of which browser i Use.   I see all the emails and calendar entries but it's only a lite version and no access to categories etc.

So I signed up for the Microsoft 360 home 30 day trial being told that the Outlook web app would solve the problem but i still don't get any coloured category information just lists of entries. all the entries are there but no colour coding.

Also when i downloaded the 360 version of outlook all the categories changed colours! and still only show up on the iMac.

No one wants to take responsibility or provide an answer. Apple care say that they cannot support Microsoft products such as outlook and tell me to ring Microsoft.

Microsoft tell me they cannot support apple or outlook or office 360 because I am using a Microsoft exchange account.

My Microsoft exchange account provider 1 and 1 tell me it is a Microsoft/Apple issue!!!   My email, syncing etc all work fine its just the format it gets displayed in.

The only solution I can see is if I buy a macbook as then I will be able to install the full version of outlook. it seems a bit extreme and an expensive option.

Any help greatly appreciated.  Im losing the will to live.

I am encountering the same issue, but I don't think the moderator understood.  I am trying to export messages from Windows Live Mail in order to import them into Outlook on a PC.  They are not going to an Exchange server.  I select the WLM Export function, then the Microsoft Exchange format.  WLM confirms that this will export the selected messages to "Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange".  I confirm that, and WLM goes off and does something and reports success.  The problem is that it never tells me WHERE it puts the exported messages.  I looked in the Outlook Files in My Documents, not there.  It doesn't appear to be anywhere in the WLM area of the AppData directory.  And it doesn't even tell me the file type so that I can do a search.  Is it a .PST file?  I need to know where it is so I can point Outlook to it to import it.
I've been using Office for Mac 2011 Home & Student for quite a while.  I have several clients who provide an email address for me and previously I've imported them all into Mail on my Mac.  Although I have more than one client who utilizes Microsoft Exchange for their email, lately, I'm having problems with consistently receiving mail from one client.  So, I decided to buy the "Home & Business" version in order to utilize Outlook…hoping that will solve the problem (I know Microsoft Exchange doesn't support mobile also, so I figured…why not…)

Unfortunately, I think my Mac is defaulting to the "Home & Student" version…because although an Outlook "O" appears in the dock, it won't open at all.

Suggestions?  Thanks so much -
Laura

Hi,

On a Windows domain computer running Office 2007 and 2010 we can get outlook program to get mail via http if we go through these steps.  Go to the menu bar..then go to

Tools
Options
Mail Setup
Email Accounts

Choose email account

Click change
More Settings
Connection
Outlook Anywhere

Check  Connect to Microsoft Exchange by using Http

Click on Exchange Proxy Settings

Type in url in the next pagel

Does Mac office allow you to get email via http  and if it does, where do we go to enable it?

Thanks,

Alex

My Sony 15" laptop was set up on Microsoft Exchange (late summer) and worked and synchronized perfectly until October 23rd. Subsequent entry did not rapidly connect as usual. Outlook since has only shown "DISCONNECTED" after frequent attempts to connect.

Desktop Outlook e-mail receives ONLY.

Previously, the Exchange e-mail did not recognize the I-phone as the log-in was a Blackberry format. The I-phone is connecting promptly after changing the corporate access from a BB to normal exchange access on October 1st.

1.] Did the change in the Exchange server from BB format cause the disconnect?

2.} What else may have "frozen" the access?

I have always sent myself messages from my work email account, but this week I started receiving the following rejection notices and I'm confused as to why.  Any recommendations?

My office was installed yesterday and i tried to set up my outlook and the test mail went fine and delivered. latter the outlook refuses to work again saying 'the connection to microsoft exchange is unavailable. outlook must be online or connected to complete this action.' when i click ok, it will take me me to a box which says 'you must provide the name of your microsoft exchange server and mailbox above.  I used POP mail to set up the outlook and not microsoft exchange server. please advise what i should do
Hi!
I am using Outlook 2013 and I have 2 accounts set up, one is a Microsoft Exchange account and the other one is an IMAP one.
When I am flagging emails or writing tasks, other people that are connected to the Microsoft Exchange account can see them.
How can I avoid that?
Just bought MS 365. Entered profile data to set up outlook. But when I go to log in the blue Outlook icon churns away saying 'loading profile'. then ends in an error message saying " The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." Can't get into profile to reset even using admin. either

Any suggestions,

Brian.

I have a long standing Hotmail account that works fine on all my on the other computers and am trying Office 365 on a new Windows 8.1 touchscreen laptop.

I have tried all the method for adding Hotmail from the internet IMAP, POP, and then Microsoft Exchange.

Now I am stuck on Microsoft Exchange not being recognized for my m.hotmail.com account and outlook closes.

I have removed the data in the hidden files for outlook accounts, but they keep appearing and outlook won't run.

Two Questions: How do I get back into outlook and what are the correct Hotmail settings?

Thanks
