Hi,

One of our managers was put on a Microsoft Exchange account when she went on Maternity Leave, and now that she is back is having major issues with speed. It's 100% her Outlook causing the issue. I've updated her Office to 14.3.8 and her brand new Macbook pro is at 10.8+. She is the only one of 20+ staff on Exchange. I've spent several days doing everything I can to optimize it, and nothing seems to work. She is set to only download headers and no folders are over 2000 email anymore. The wheel is spinning over 50% of the time and the scroll doesn't work. It seems to be constantly syncing or sync pending. At this point, the only thing that will make anyone happy is to have her moved back to an IMAP account.

I can't find anything on this. I realize Exchange is much different from POP and IMAP so you can't just switch, but so what do I need to do? I don't know enough about Exchange to know how better to ask this question, so any background information helps. Any additional resources on Exchange might help too. I've read for hours on what could be affecting the speed, and at this point we just want her off Exchange.

Help? Thanks for any in advance!

Creating, sending and reading mails in the new format work correctly. However, if I  click on a link within an email in order to reply, I get the follwing:

"Connection to the Microsoft exchange is not available. Outlook must be on-line or connected."

Then there is box that appears called Microsft Exchange with a server name of MSN.com and the error comment of:"Cannot start Microft Office because the outlook.ost folder does not exist".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Z

Hi everyone,
I just thought to make something clear for all those like me that don't have a clear picture on the Exchange Online service in the Office365 suite.

As Microsoft does not provide IMAP support in Outlook.com email accounts yet, I was looking for a way to have an Exchange integration onto an Outlook.com email account in order to sync messages on more devices.
More posts seemed to give the idea that the only chance to have anything different than POP in Outlook.com (at today) was to have Exchange Online service and have sort of "upgrade".
Well Microsoft Exchange Online service does provide indeed exchange support, but to get that benefit you need to register your own domain and then configure your email accounts as exchange.
Therefore if you like the all new Outlook.com email but like me you can't rely upon the POP protocol to work with, purchasing the Microsoft Exchange Online service won't make the trick.

By the way, i had the chance to look into Exchange Online for a couple of days and i have to say it has a pretty clear and easy to use interface, even for somebody like me who's not an IT person.

Had been using Outlook using a home computer, not on a network, but after being away for a month received the following message:
"hotmail.ost cannot be accessed. Must connect to Microsoft Exchange at least once before you can use your Outlook Data File (.ost)"
Can't get into Outlook at all . Has anyone solved this problem?
I just got a galaxy s3 and I am trying to set up the microsoft exchange email for my college email. However, when I try and set it up, it says incorrect password even though I know it is right. please help
