I presently point my domain bushlodgesupply.co.za to the Google Mail servers and forward my mail to my Outlook.com email address. This is causing loss of sent and received mail. I therefore want to use the Outlook.com mail servers directly for my domain instead of routing through Google Mail. I know I need to change the MX and TXT records - what are they and how do I change these without affecting my Outlook.com email system?
I have a Google Mail account set up to receive and send messages via the Outlook.com servers. Receiving works fine, but sending has recently started bouncing back with this error:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

        (recipient email address)

   Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the relay smtp.live.com by smtp.live.com. [65.55.162.200].

The error that the other server returned was:
535 5.2.1 Login to your account via a web browser to verify your account. (SMTP AUTH failed with the remote server)

Sending directly from the Outlook.com webmail works fine, as does sending via an SMTP client on my computer (I used Office Outlook without the Hotmail connector to test it). This problem appears to be confined only to sending via Google Mail.

I've checked all the settings (server = smtp.live.com, port = 587, secured via TLS) and reentered my email address and password, but to no avail.

I'm not really sure what the error message means. Is it saying that I simply have to log in to the Outlook.com webmail to verify the account? Because I've done that and it didn't change anything. Or is there an additional verification page somewhere that has to be used? If so, I can't locate it.

Can anyone please advise how this may be fixed?
Hallo,

I have Outlook 2011 for Mac on Mac OS X 10.8. Calendar and Mac Mail simply work fine with google mail and calendar.
I'm using Outlook also for our company Exchange host and I additionally want to synchronize my private google calendar into my Outlook 2011.
The sync service does not recognize the google entry.

Is there any chance to fix that?

Hi,

On September 19, 2012, Update 14.2.4 was releases for Office for Mac 2011, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2742588.

Since that update I am having trouble syncing my folders to Google Mail. Most of the time the sync just aborts without any message. Sometimes I get an error saying that the client cannot authenticate to the Google Mail IMAP server and I can re-enter my details. To no avail.

Most articles and blogs about this issue suggest turning off the "Send multiple commands to server simultaneously" option. Unfortunately that option is not present in the Server tab of the Advanced option of the Google Mail IMAP account I have created.

In fact, the option I can see in that tab don't match with what is described in the corresponding help documentation. See http://twitpic.com/b3or30/full. Anybody know what's going on here? Maybe I'll need to downgrade to 14.2.3 but that feels a bit, euh, backward.

Thx for any hints on how to fix this! Regards, Vincent.
