I'm running OSX Mavericks and Office for Mac 2011 and I'm able to add my outlook.com account easy enough for mail but it only provides the option to sync mail and notes in the internet preferences settings. How can I add calendar and contacts?

So this has happened twice, and my blood pressure honestly has doubled.  I bought a new Macbook Pro yesterday, and repurchased the Office for Mac 2011, since my 2008 version was outdated.  When I set up Outlook, all 65,000+ messages from my Gmail account started to sync.  I called tech support, and they told me I have to deal with it. Fine. So after all the messages download, I went and filtered through all of them on my Outlook, and deleted close to 30,000 over a process of 4 hours.

Now every time I open my Outlook, it starts to re-download all 30,000 messages I deleted.  I changed my gmail settings to POP, as a different thread said might help, and so I patiently waited as it re-downloaded them all, thinking maybe I just have to do it with POP enabled.  So the 30,000 downloaded again, and I deleted them all once again.  Go figure, Outlook is still trying to resync my inbox and downloading those 30,000 emails again.

If this honestly doesn't get resolved by the end of the week, I will be getting a refund and the last nail in the coffin for Microsoft products in my life with hammered on in.  I've liked Entourage/Outlook in the past, and would like to continue using it, but it is beyond ludicrous that Outlook would sync 30,000 emails I delete, every time I delete them.  What's the point of having Outlook if that happens?

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I backed up the Document folder on a Macbook Air because I want to restore the Outlook for Mac data on a new install of Maverick.  I have updated the Office for Mac 2011 on the new installation and its all up to date.  I then created a new profile to set up the Office for Mac and copy and paste the Office 2011 Identities folder.  Upon open the Office, I got a prompt to rebuild the database which I did and in the end the program open up.  I see all the end users' Local On My Computer folders.  She has hundreds of the local folders but NO EMAILs.  Basically the backup I made has 15 gig of data so I know the emails are there.

I have also try to re-create a new profile, copies all the folders under Data Records, rebuild the database and none work.  I am getting stress out because she has over 15 gigs of emails and I know I have backed them up but they are not showing up.  All the folders/subfolders under My Computers are there.

Please help.

Thanks,

Helen

I am using Office for Mac 2011. In the outlook, there is no option for inserting a table into the body of the email.

Even if I cut and paste a table from microsoft word onto outlook and vice versa, the alignment and font all changes. It is difficult to make changes in any table in outlook

When we reply to any email also, the font and alignment of the email changes automatically and if you try to modify, it does not allow

When using outlook on windows, you may modify the attachment and save the changes in the attachment only for sending the email. This is not permitted in office for MAC 2011. If you make any changes to the attachment, to save the changes, you have to save the document on the computer. Basically, the changes is made to the original document itself. e.g. if attaching an excel file, if on the windows platform, you can delete worksheet or even make changes, but in the Mac platform, this is not permitted.

Hope for some concrete solution or else it is difficult to use the outlook on the Office for MAC 2011.

Good Afternoon,   I could use a little help.

In the past I have used Outlook on a PC along with iCloud to sync my calendars and contacts.   I recently switched to a Mac.  I am trying to recreate the same syncing capabilities.  I signed up for Office 365 for Home $9.99 a month which included the download of the Office 2011 for Mac.

I understand that Office 2011 for Mac does not have the capability to sync with iCloud.  I don't really care that I can't sync through iCloud.  i understand that Apple and Microsoft are fighting over who get the be the big boy and hope that they will work out their issues soon.

For now I would like to find a way that will allow me to sync my calendar and contacts through Office for Mac 2011.    Right now I am running Office 2010 with the iCloud download on Parallels and using the other Office for Mac products (word, excel, etc)

My question is does the Office 365 for Home subscription include the ability to sync the calendar and contacts and if not how would I go about it?  I see  reference to a Microsoft Exchange Server but can't tell if that is part of the subscription or something different.

thank you

I recently installed Office for Mac 2011 onto a new mac.  I had used the software before on my old machine which was backed up daily using Time Machine.

I copied the folder called Office  2011 Identities in full to the folder called Microsoft User Data on the new machine.

When I opened Outllook, I discovered that I have lost all data since May 2012.  When I inspect the folder called Main Identity, I see it was last modified in May 2012, even though I have used it up until today.

Could it be that the database was not backed up since May 2012, even though Time Machine was doing daily backups of all files?

thanks

I am experiencing a curious mulishness with my Outlook for Mac and would appreciate any useful feedback on what to do about it. I have a MacBook Pro laptop computer, running OS X Mavericks, v. 10.9.2. I bought the Office for Mac 2011 suite and have Outlook for Mac, v. 14.3.9, installed. Since the OS X update to Mavericks in 2013, using Apple's Mail app with Gmail got to be too much trouble, and I started using Outlook for Mac as my e-mail client earlier this year. It does a pretty good job for me, in general, but there's one thing I've noticed lately that bugs me.

I am not sure whether this contact's birthday is a datum that I transferred to Outlook from Apple's Contacts app with a .vcf card or whether I input the date manually in Outlook, but for some reason, I ended up with the wrong day of the right month and year, and every time I try to change it and to save the change, Outlook for Mac won't accept the new date but instead reverts to the incorrect one. I've tried deleting the birthday entirely, and it will let me do so, but then when I try to put in the correct date later, it does the same thing all over again. I keep telling it that the date I want to store is the 10th, but it persists in showing the 1st. I have experienced the same kind of thing with other contacts' birthdays. What's up with that?
