Hi all

I have a problem with Office on MAC 2011 outlook. When compose or reply email, the First letter on the first words on the sentences does not auto capitalize with apostrophe.

This do not happen on words, execl, powerpoint for MAC 2011.. only encounter this on outlook.

MAC OSX ver 10.9

Office for MAC 2011 ver 14.4.2

example:

don't

wouldn't

didn't

We

Cannot

can't

Any words with apostrophe. outlook will not capitalize it.

anyone able to help??

Several months ago, when setting up one of the aliases on my hotmail account in outlook.com, I typed in a name, which apparently contained an apostrophe.  I didn't think catch it at the time and the program did not challenge it.  It accepted the name and set it up with the apostrophe.    I just now caught this and when I try to setup another alias for the same name, without the apostrophe, it says the name is already assigned.  While the account with the apostrophe works,  I believe the account without the apostrophe is mine but I can't get to it.  Who do I contact to get this resolved?
When I type an email in Outlook and use an apostrophe it shows an apostrophe in the typed message but the message that is sent and any replies shows "  '  ".  What is happening and what do I do to correct it. This is a recent development in the last week.
Over the last few days, I have noticed that when I use and apostrophe, while writing an email, in Outlook...the apostrophe is substituted with an ampersand (&) additional letters and signs!  I thought perhaps it was because I was using my cell to respond to emails, but it is also occurring with emails I create using my desktop.   My friend, who uses Yahoo, is having the same issue!  Any idea what is happening and how to fix??  Thanks
If I type

  I'll

  it becomes

I'Ll

weirdly capitalizing the first letter after the apostrophe. The problem went away when I unchecked "capitalize 1st letter of sentences". Why does it think that an apostrophe marks the fist letter of a sentence??
I can't figure out how or why Outlook 2011 is doing this, but I've checked the MS Office dictionaries and I don't see it. But what is happening is that when I type in dont or don't,  the autocorrect is correcting it to say
don't'    the same with couldn't becoming couldn't'

Note the extra apostrophe after the t '

Where can I find this incorrect auto correct and stop it?
Thanks
Jeff
I'm using Outlook from Office:mac 2011. Every time I type "I" and a single apostrophe in a plain text email, Outlook wants to capitalize the next letter and stop accepting input as soon as I enter a space.
For example:
  • typing I'd becomes I'D
  • typing I'm becomes I'M
This actually happens no matter what letter (or how many letters) come after the apostrophe. For example:
  • typing I'x becomes I'X
  • typing I'fgggs becomes IFgggs
In all cases, as soon as I finish the word with a space, that first letter after the apostrophe becomes capitalized and Outlook stops accepting any further typing. I have to hit Command-Z to undo this auto-formatting to allow me to keep typing. Note that this only happens with Plain Text emails and does not happen with HTML emails.
I figure I have upset something in Windows Live Mail because just about all apostrophe marks (') are being replaced by "’"...like the word "don’t", for example?  I can type it here "don't" but it ends up "don’t" at some point when I view mail I send or receive and I don't know why.  Something is amiss!  Help please.

Thank you.
