There is a small window that has  appeared in the corner of my screen saying "software download complete" with two choices: "install now" or "Install later". I can't close it, and I don't remember downloading anything. I tried restoring the computer to a prior restore point, but it is still there. Is it a virus?

I am using windows 7 and Microsoft security essentials. Nothing has shown up currently in any virus scan, but it did catch a trojan virus awhile ago. It said it stopped it.
A family member has notified me that I have emaily being sent with my name but not my account carrying a trojan virus; however, he is the only one receiving this - can someone please help?

All:

Just received an email purportedly from MSN Windows Live Hotmail requesting Log-in Information.  I believe it to be a scam site.  Anyone have any ideas?  Naturally, I am not responding, but need to know if this is legit since I do not want to lose my account.  Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting messages from the Hotmail team wih improper english telling me to send my info or my acct will be shut dow,  It's due to a Trojan virus.  Is this legit?

I don't want to lose my hotmail acct.!

For months I have been getting emails, allegedly from Hotmail such as the one below:

"....Due to increased spam and phishing activities globally, a DGTFX trojan virus has been detected in your windows live folders. Your email account will be upgraded with our new secure 1024-bit RSA key anti-virus firewall to prevent damage to our email servers and to your important files.  I have responded to each of these requests with an email asking for a letter request and/or refusing to provide them with my password etc.

I have never gotten a response - only these random emails...

Is this for real or is it a scam to hijack my account?

Thanks.
