Windows Live Mail FAQ

I can receive but not send emails in Windows Live Mail. How can I access the account settings to make changes?

I think I've made an error entering my email settings as I can receive emails but can't send them.

I wanted to check &, if necessary, ammend the settings but find that the only option when I click "Accounts" is tp add an email address and no option to ammend the existing one. I've tried adding the info again with the ammendment I want to try but it is still trying to send using the original settings.

Would be very grateful if someone can tell me how to access the account settings

Just installed new hard drive. Now I can't add a second email address to windows live mail. When I try to access my account settings I get a blank page. Was this wiped out by installing new hard drive?

If When I try and select a link in  a signature of an email received to respond, I do not get the option of selecting the master account settings set up in the Outlook profile. It wants to default to an iCloud account or personal email account. I do not get the option to select the corporate exchange account. How can I add this for the exchange account be my default account?

How I get Outlook 2011 to download ALL messages (including message bodies) -in ALL folders and subfolders- on a imap account?

I've created a new identity, and want Outlook (14.2.4) to download ALL messages in ALL folders and subfolders. In my account settings, I've unchecked 'Download headers only'.

But it doesn't do the job for all folders. When I go to a certain subfolder, he still has messages that were not downloaded (the headers are there, but when I click on the header, it starts downloading the message body only then.

I've given Outlook enough time, but I keep having messages with bodies that are not downloaded (unless I click on the header and then starts downloading)...

How can I have ALL my messages automatically downloaded completely...?

My Outlook for Mac seems to delete older e-mail, how do I avoid that

My Outlook for Mac seems to delete older e-mail, how do I avoid that, I have checked the account settings and can't find any "time delete" setting of any sort.
I have checked my Office Outlook Web Access and they are not at the server to. (missing there also)

I am using a hosted exchange 2007, other users of the same server running Windows Outlook don't have this problem.

Best Regards
Rikard Svenningsen.

override default port 995 will not remain checked on outlook 2011

I have had problems off and on for months with my ATT email account access from Outlook or Entourage. I switched to Outlook 2011 in April and it works fine but for some reason or other, I will start having to input my password to get mail. The error message pops up, asks for password, I input it, tell it to save in keychain and then may or may not get my mail. What is frustrating is in account settings the override default port will be unchecked and my password gone. I change the default port back to 995, enter the password, x out, restart outlook and it may or may not work. If i go back to account settings, 9 times out of 10 the password is there but the override button is NOT checked as I had done prior to closing it. In other words, Outlook will NOT let me save the override port in inbound mail. I don't understand this at all. And even more strange is the fact that some mornings I turn my laptop on and there is a string of messages in my inbox from the ATT account!! I can then try to send and receive and get the error message again.
I talked with Microsoft help and they suggested ATT was having serious issues with email and that I just delete the account. I CAN access the ATT mail from the web server.
Outlook works fine with my work exchange account but struggles with my personal att email. I have two of them. ATT and a straight yahoo personal account. It seems it must have something to do with Yahoo???
I am thinking of switching my yahoo accounts to gmail to avoid any further frustration with this override port issue.
any ideas?

Again, there is no rhyme or reason to the mail issue. It works fine about 20% of the time and does not the other 80% and has nothing to do with what I do to the account settings.

Very strange.

Thanks,

f

I'm trying to save the changes on this screen, but as you can see the "ok" button is greyed out.  Anyone know how to correct this?

Restoring my Emails, account settings, calendar entries, contacts, etc. after a time machine backup

09. July 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: account settings, calendar entries, database, Emails, error, machine, Outlook files, problem

I have a problem restoring my Outlook files after a time machine backup. My Main Identity can't be rebuild due to an unknown Outlook error. I have looked up numerous articles about this problem and it seems to be common on Mac OS X.

What I want to achieve is, that all my Emails, Account settings, calendar settings and contacts are as they were before the time machine backup. I have switched to MAC about a year ago and therefore have an old .pst file, which I migrated back then. (It didn't move all emails without notifying me, but I managed to move these manually as I still have the old Microsoft laptop)

Several MAC experts back then assured me that Outlook can be fully restored from the time machine as all other data and files on my mac. So far that seems to be true apart from my Outlook files. I have exported all settings and my Outlook content to an .olm file. But I only did that once, about 11 months ago. (Because the MAC gurus all explained that this manual backup is not necessary anymore with the time machine backup running all the time) So that doesn't help either as I am missing the mails & data from 11 months.

What happened so far:

After the time machine backup Outlook tried to rebuild my Main Identity but always fails to do so in Step 4 of 5 (recovering data). "Your database could not be rebuild" is the message I get from the MS Database Utility all the time.

I looked the problem up on several IT forums and support sides and...

...that's what I have done so far:

1. create a new identity: Worked fine, but Outlook is then completely empty. All mails, calendar entries, etc. are gone

2. I copied the identity files (about 4.7 GB) incl. the folder structure into the new identity, but this steps leads me back to step 1, as Outlook prompts to rebuild the database again and fails with the same error messages.

Tried this several times with recovered database folder and files from different dated backups.

My idea now is, to uninstall Outlook completely, re-install it and copy the files into the Main Identity again, as there should be no reference to older versions, which seems to be the problem. I haven't done that yet. I am not an expert and therefore hope to find a workable solution here on this platform.

Operating System: Mac OS X, 10.6.8

Office version 2011 for Mac: 14.2.2

Thanks in advance

hotmail corporate sync not syncing on Andoird Droid Razr Maxx

16. June 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail · Tags: Account, account settings, Andoird, Corporate, Droid Razr Maxx, hotmail, Hotmail Account Error, reason, syncing, yesterday

Hi. Running a Droid Razr Maxx with email as Corporate Sync. It stopped syncing yesterday for no apparent reason, giving a message "Hotmail Account Error" on syncing and a warning message "connection error" after.

I checked the password - correct. I check the account settings m.hotmail.com, SSL -- correct. Account test comes back "successful". Tried deleting and re-adding the account. Same. Too advice of a couple of users here and cleared the Active Sync Cache. Nadda.

I can access Hotmail via their android app, but Hotmail is where all my contacts and calendar items are. Basically I am dead in the water.

Any advice will be appreciated.
