I have an e-mail account with ATT, but I use Windows Live Mail 2011, I prefer it.   My problem is that I am now receiving about 100 JUNK e-mails a day. I think some one got my e-mail address some months ago, and sent it to junk e-mail providers.   Here is my question:  How do I change my e-mail address to a new one? Do I have to go to ATT for that.? Unable to send or receive my Live mail. I receive the above error message.  I originally did have a stuck forward email from an added ATT email (but live was still working)  I deleted that email, and removed the account. I have since been unable to get this account again.  Mostly due to no proper set up instructions available, which is different now with the v12. That's unimportant at this time.  Following instructions elsewhere for this problem, I upgraded Windows essentials to v 12.  That didn't help.

My concern is for the live email which is my main account.  I added a "new" account, for live, had it automatically configured, and it worked until I deleted the original account, or maybe it wouldn't have worked again, anyway.  I recently upgraded internet explorer to v11, some weeks ago.  I have had live essential "fix a repair" twice. 

This is on my desktop, win 7 64 bit.  I've seen lots of others with the same problem, and none of the answers I've seen , have helped.

This looks like Live does not recover correctly from an error, but in any case, Help, please.

Starting about 1:00 am Sunday outlook.com stopped retrieving emails from AT&T U-Verse/Yahoo.  Going into options there was a message next to the account that stated  the following message:

 

There was a problem getting messages from your other accounts. 

 

I went into accounts and the AT&T/Yahoo account had the error and the details stated:

 

7/21/13 We couldn't get your messages: Make sure your user name and password are correct.

 

Sorry to say that no my credentials are not incorrect, I tested by using a local email client using the same credentials and I was able to get pop access to my email.   I would say that with the time frame (usually a maintenance window) that either Microsoft or Yahoo changed something that prevents mail being received at Outlook.com

 

My number one issue is getting this working again and Microsoft and AT&T Yahoo doesn't provide any type of real support options.

 

My second  issue is why did I have to dig all the way down into settings to find out that Outlook.com is having trouble.  Couldn't they have put a message on the main email page?

 

What can be done to get resolution to this issue?

I have installed the latest update available of Outlook for Mac 2011 (14.3.1)  and it was running fine for a couple of hours on My MacBook Pro which has Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2..  Then I started getting popups saying authentication had failed at ATT (I use SBCGLOBAL.NET).  It gives you a choice of cancel or to re-enter your password.  After entering my password a million times, I just get the same answer.

I went out to the web and used the same password and logged onto my email JUST FINE.  I was having this problem beforeI installed the Outlook update and I had thought that the recent update to Outlook was what had solved this problem.  Apparently not.  I am wondering how to proceed to solve this.  By the way, Apple's Mail platform also will not work.
My e-mail has suddenly stopped working, even though all settings are correct.  ATT my internet provider tells me it is a compatibility problem with Outlook for Mac 2011. I have an old Bellsouth.net address. I have tried various pop and smtp configurations suggested by ATT, but nothing works.  I get a cannot send mail error, please enter username and password, but they are correct and even on re-entering the same error comes up. Though Windows Live Mail has my photo and correct name, recently
whenever I attempted to logon with the password I was using for years,
I constantly was sent an "Incorrect Password" response!

So I created a new password. 
BUT when my *** Email address is removed for privacy *** floats up,
and I click in my newly created password, I get the same "incorrect" feedback.

I am pasting in right here what happens when I try to send or receive mail :

HOWEVER, according to my default email account with att.net, 
my SMTP Server/Port Port (Outbound att.net) is 465--NOT 25!
My POP server/ Inbound att.net is 995.
There my SSL shows YES.
--And my Protocol Type is POP3.

Can some technically proficient person figure this out, please?
