When I go to set my default email client I choose Windows Live Mail, click on OK, and I open it up again and it has switched back to "use my current default email client".  Why won't it stay switched?  From what I understand, Windows 7 doesn't have an email client already installed, so I don't have a "current default email client" What am I missing?

I am beside myself with this issue and request help from the Community.

I have a client running Windows 7 - he uses Windows Essentials 2011 - the email part of it as an email client.

For no reason at all it suddenly will not place messages received in the Inbox. The messages flashes for a brief moment as if it is being placed in the inbox then disappears from sight. Its not in the Junk folder and its not in the deleted items folder. Its NOWHERE !

I have tried:

Restoring the system to an earlier date.

Repairing Live Essentials using the Repair Utility.

Uninstalling and resinstalling the program.

Deleting the users inbox using Windows Explorer and drilling down to the store folder.

Deleting the account and recreating the account.

ANY and ALL assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Win 8.1 and Win Live Mail Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3522.0110) SMTP Port 587 stopped sending Comcast mail

My email client stopped working today.

My client has been properly configured as far as port numbers and authentication and has been working properly up until today.  I sent one mail this morning, but subsequent emails failed.  The first failure message said that the Comcast person I was sending mail to was not a Comcast customer.  So I tried a non Comcast email at this point but now it is stuck in the outbox.

I went to my old XP system with Outlook express and sent an email form there to the same Comcast customer - no problem.  I have rechecked that the client accounts on both systems are the same.

I closed Live Mail and tried to go back in, but it was still trying to send mail.  I ended the process with the Task Manager and then the yahoo client mail was sent.

So feeling more confident, I then tried to resend the email with the Comcast  address.  Keep in mind this address works with the config—Win XP, Outlook Express and the exact same client setup— and I am able to send to the email address, but with Win 8.1 and LiveMail, the response I now get is "Not our Customer".    See full error message below with the person's email x'ed out for their privacy.

The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***', please contact your email service provider.

Subject 'Fw: Humarock'
Server Error: 550
Server Response: 550 5.1.1 Not our Customer
Server: 'smtp.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC79
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes

Now this message does not seem to make any sense because I should not need the email settings for the person I am sending mail to.  I searched on  "Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC79" which told me to check my email client config settings.  That's it, I've run out of ideas expect maybe a full shut down and restart.

Any assistance appreciated.

Hello,

I have 1 laptop (w7x64 home premium) and 1 desktop (w7x64 pro) with the same email client (wlm 2012) and the same server.

After the downloads sometimes the message(s) is(are) missing in the other computer. In theory the two mail client should contain the same messages, shouldn't it?

What is the explanation and how to correct it?

Thank you

I mark email that has been thrown into the "Junk" bin as "Not Junk" and the next time I get another email from this trusted site, it is once again thrown into the "Junk" bin.  If I mark an email as "Not Junk", isn't it supposed to accept all future email from that sender/domain?   This is a service website and I get weekly emails from them that should NOT be seen as "Junk".  My client is Windows Live 2012 email and I'm running it on Win 7 Pro x64 with all MS updates.

ok so i like the idea of windows live and its services. i find the email client to be one of the best ones.......when its working! i had a windows live update yesterday and ever since the mail client is not working telling me i am not connected to the net. however this only happens when trying to retrieve mail from live.com.au or outlook.com. this is not the first time this has happened. live mail has been bugged from the start and the only reason i stick with it is because i like it WHEN IT WORKS!

and before you all start saying edit your registry and delete your account details and renter them and turn your cords around and do a rain dance i have done all that already.

windows live 2012! try bringing things to 2014.

come on microsoft lift your game!

so i guess my question is what is a good email client that i can use to link all my emails together from live, outlook, yahoo, gmail and ISP pop server?

I'm looking for an alternative email client for mac.  I've used Outlook for about a year now and just hasnt been a great experience.

Anybody have  suggestions?

Dear Sir / Madam,

Good Day!

Refer to the above subject, currently I'm using my email client as WINDOWS LIVE MAIL 2011 & 2012 for my various gadget devices. Hence, recently I've subscribe with Office 365 provider, and thus, set-up with my new mailer ID, using client as WINDOWS LIVE MAIL 2011 & 2012. Well, no issues in sending and replying mails.

But however, notice that each time while sending-out mails, I'm keep getting read message mail immediately thereafter at my INBOX for each of the send-out mails, before other parties could receive my mail and acknowledge, since I've incorporated READ MESSAGE RECEIPT though. WHY? Please advise.

Thanks & Regards,

A.Maran

I have a new computer running Windows 8.1. I use Windows Live Mail as my email client.
When writing a new message:
1. When I try to place the cursor in the text to add something or make a correction, the cursor jumps to the end.
2. When word is mi-spelt it is underlined in red as usual but right clicking the word does not bring up the spelling options.
Help please.
