Whenever I start Outlook on macbook it operates for about a minute the pops up a box say it needs to quit due to an error.
Hi everybody,

As the title says I'm experiencing critical problems in restoring my emails and account after a time machine total restore. These are the steps of what happened:

I was experiencing serious problems with OS 10.8.2 after the major update (I really blame Apple for this... recent software updates are a disgrace one more than the other) so I really needed to do a full restore.
My Mac is always totally backed up with Time Machine on an external USB drive, so I felt confident and safe not to lose any of my data.
I performed a total OS reinstall from the Recovery Partition of my Mac. Doing this initialized my HD and reinstalled Mountain Lion from scratches.
At the first boot of the newly installed OS I've opted for a restore form a Time Machine Backup in the Migration Agent options.
When the system booted again after the restore the very first thin that was displayed was a red Outlook Error (coming probably from the sync agent) that was asking me to rebuild my Outlook Database. I accepted to perform the Rebuild and it begun.
The Rebuild proceeded till point 4 of 5 when it interrupts and display the message "Your database could not be rebuilt. [-18000]" and then exits.
After that i launched Outlook and it asked me again to rebuild the Database. The process started once again but it failed in the same way.
I've checked the content of the folder: /users/myuser/documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities and thankfully all my messages and data are still there!! The only thing that is missing is the "database" file that office is unable to rebuild.
Is this a known problem?
There is a known procedure to solve that or any other workaround?
At this time my entire 10 years old database is unusable and this is really a critical problem for me so any kind of help would be much appreciated.

PS Sorry for the very long post but I'm Italian and I have some difficulties expressing myself in concise and short sentences.
Thanks in advance for any answer

Office for Mac 2011
Outlook for Mac 2011 14.2.5

I created Contact Groups in my Contacts. I can access the groups in my email, but I can't see them to display or update in my contact list. What do I need to do to see them?

I'm using Outlook 2011 Mac with Exchange.  It says "sync pending" and then "downloading attachments" and then never stops cycling through this apparently not recognizing that it has downloaded the attachments?  Any ideas?  I am using a new MacBook Air 11".  I do not have this problem on any of the 5 other devices that are using Outlook 2011 for Mac with this Exchange server.

I'm not able to use the search function in Outlook Mac 2011 (14.2.5) with my IMAP email account. I can see all my emails just fine, but when I search for something that I know should have hits, the results are completely blank. I've tried rebuilding the database, I've tried creating a new database and starting fresh, but nothing seems to work. I'm using a 27 in iMac with 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB of Ram, running OSX 10.7.5.

I have been using outlook for almost 20 years, but I am about to give up on it.  When I switched to Mac in 2010, I loved the ease of use of the MAC OS compared to the perpetually bugged MS Windows OS.

I found a few things though.   While Office 2008 for Mac was prettty good, the Entourage email app was pretty poor not allowing HTML formatted email.  This is not a major problem except when trying to forward HTML emails as they would appear all scrambles.  As imperfect as Entourage was in email, the calendar and contacts feature were solid and syncing with iCal and Mac address book was ROCK solid.

I upgraded (now it feels like a downgrade) to Outlook 2011.  There is no question that the other apps (word, excel, powerpoint) are better than the 2008 Office, but Outlook 2011 is HORRIBLE due to problems syncing with iCal and address book.

I was able to sync with iCal and Address book for a while, but eventually the sync services stopped syncing appointments.  After hours and hours of research, I found that I could deactivate MS Sync Services in Outlook preferences, in the Library > Preferences folder I deleted the file named: com.microsoft.Outlook.SyncServicesPreferences/plist file and reset sync history in iSync.

I then turn on sync services but I found that every time I did this I got duplication of any calendar event that was an "all day" event.  The only way to do this would be to delete all my calendars in iCal before starting to sync again to replace all the data in iCal.  The other bigger problem is that after a while, the syncing would again stop working.

Sure I could reset everything again, but the effort to go through this process over and over 1-3 times per day makes this process unworkable for me.  I have worked on this problem too long.   The bottom line is that MS Outlook 2011 Sync Services DO NOT WORK RELIABLY!!!

After almost 20 years, I must now say goodbye to Outlook. Without a reliable sync to iCal ( and then to my iPhone) Outlook calendar and address book are useless to me.  Sad day, but if anyone can help me fix this problem, I will happily stay with Outlook as the calendar is much better than iCal, but without rock solid syncing, it is useless.

We just got a new computer at work.  It now has Window Live Mail instead of Outlook.  All our contacts from our Outlook express transferred, however, so did my personal Hotmail Contacts.  I do not want my personal contacts mixed in with the work email contacts.  How can I stop this.  Are they linked?
Had carefully added rules to organize my incoming emails.  Now, suddenly, emails are going into inappropriate folders.  I've looked into the last few rules that I have created and nothing seems to explain the problem.  Anyone else had this happen or have suggestions on how to fix it?
