I have just received an email (copied text below) telling me my account needs to be re-activated and I need to do this by following a link provided in the email itself. It sounds a bit suspicious, but I wouldn't want my account to be de-activated. Does anyone know or has received a similar email or should I regard this as a phishing scam?

thanks,

the address of the sender shows as: "Hotmail.Teaml.ID-6755.uk@wlive-hot.msg.ju3ne.fytq.microsoft-smartstart-tech.co.uk" I thought it was odd that the email address is from UK, yet the

address in the text is from a location within the US.Thetext of the email follows:

"We are sending you this e-mail because Microsoft SmartScreen Technology has detected that your account information is not correct.

This may be because your Hotmail account was accessed from an unfamiliar computer or you have made changes in your account information.

Due , to this you will need to re-activate it your account by simply logging in on the following link:

Failure to activate your account in 24 hours may result in permanent account suspension.
In most situations, you should be able to activate your account in less than one minute.

Just within the last 3 weeks I cannot find the attachment at the right side of the preview pane in windows mail , I believe that it has something to do with some update that was made by Microsoft. The only way to get to it is from the original message line which is a real pain.

Thanks

My hotmail was hacked by someone claiming to be me and saying they had been mugged in Madrid and to send money. they sent this message to all my friens and contacts. They changed all my personal settings and forwarding email addresses - so it was not possible for me to verify who I am. I haave been trying in vain for nearly 3 weeks to get my hotmail account closed down. Microsoft has been absoultely useless at adressing this. They will not shut down my account. I have been humiliated and made to look foolish amougst colleagues. My advice is NEVER NEVER use hotmail if you want to have a secure account. They are hopeless. Can anyone tell me how to shut down an account when you cannot verify who you are?
I have opened a few shared calendars and I obviously have tried to do something in the shared calendar I didn't have permissions to do.

Now I CONTINUALLY get:

Error
----
Permission Error. Changes to the event "Ask the expert session - Microsoft" could not be saved because you do not have the appropriate permission.

Details
----

This appears every minute!

The only way to stop the error is to close down the shared calendar which I can't do. I need it.

Also why on earth when you have permissions to view a person calendar does Outlook 2011 think I can send mail in their behalf. Doesn't make sense.

PLEASE get some of the Office 2010 devs to work on Office 2011. It is a crippled product.

Cheers

I have just purchased a new MacBook Air and just installed Microsoft Office 2011 Business.  I want to set up Outlook to use my 'gmail' email account and am trying to set this up.  When I try to open Outlook, for the first time, it asked me to select an identity.  I select Main Identity, not sure what this means, I am getting a message "Could not change to that identity. An unknown error has occurred in Outlook".  Also when I selected Quit it happened.  I have gone into 'preferences' 'mail, contacts & calendars and put in my gmail account, but still get error.  Eeek... What am I doing wrong?
I have an odd problem searching in Outlook.  I have done the usual steps of rebuilding the database, forcing Spotlight to reindex, deleting the files in the library preferences that Microsoft recommends.  But I can't quite believe this is an indexing issue.

The problem I have is this. I want to search for all Outlook mails that fall in a specific date range.  I have found that all Outlook searches by "sent" or "date received" using a date criterion work only if the date provided is not a calendar date. in other words it finds all mails sent "this week", "this month" perfectly.  I can also use the "greater than" criterion and enter the number of days, and that works too. Thus it finds all mail sent more than 700 days ago also perfectly.  But when I ask it to fund all mails sent before or even on 05/01/2011 it does not work, and produces strange answers.

When I called into the IT help at my university, the tech person there (not a mac specialist) seemed to have the same problem.  Is there an issue with microsoft exchange servers with the latest iterations of office 2011?

Grateful for any help.

English version of the questions:

Hi, I hope somebody can help me here:

I am using Word 2011 for Mac to work on documents that I load from a Microsoft Sharepoint Server. I am loading the documents via Microsoft Document Connection. Every time I load a document into Word, it takes a few seconds and cpu load of may Mac is up to 100% and more. Soon after, Word starts to become very slow and dies in the end. The same happens when I am using PowerPoint or Excel 2011. I am using OS X 10.6.8 on a Mac Book Pro.

Using Word on Windows, I can load the same documents and edit them without any problems.

Thanks in advance for helping me.

German version (sorry, I did not know the forum is English only):
