After upgrading my iMac to Mountain Lion OS (v 10.8.2) and reinstalling the latest version of MS Outlook for Mac 2011 (v 14.2.4), there are now 2 and sometimes 3 Inbox windows that open up, one behind the other, when I launch Outlook.

The app gets my external email just fine and the multiple windows show the same list of folders and email messages, but it's a bit annoying and I have to go ahead and close the extra windows manually.

Am wondering what might cause this and what I can do to prevent the multiple windows from opening up each time.

Thanks in advance for your help with this issue.

This is happening on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac.  I have been to the Apple store 3 times in the last three weeks to try to resolve.  I have called Comcast, the internet service provider.  They claim it is not them. My family uses PCs and are not having any problems.  Any suggestions?

I use Outlook Mac 2011 v 14.2.3 and OWA with a hosted exchange to push my email info to 4 devices (iMac, laptop, iPad, iPhone). All worked perfectly until a couple of months ago, when I had a big freeze due to being too close to my storage capacity. I got it functioning but I have 1 residual issue. When I delete an email message on my iMac by clicking the delete button, it does not sync. The email remains on OWA & my 3 other devices.  Clicking delete works fine on my laptop, i phone & ipad; and the sync works if I drag the email to the trash on my imac. But clicking the Delete button on my iMac only deletes the email on my imac (not the owa server, not my other devices). I've done all the suggested things (deleting preferences, rebuilding the identity, etc) except for a total un-install and re-install of office. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi,

I'm still planning a move from a desktop PC to an iMac.

I've gathered that the Calendar in Outlook 2011 won't sync with Canedar on the iMac so (I think I'm right here...) so what about Oulook 2010 running in Win7 and Parallels?

So,  if I use Parallels, Win 7 and Office 2010 on the iMac I assume I can sync the Outlook Calendar with my Google calendar (using google calendar synch running in Win 7) and the Calendar on iMac with Google Calendar (And either my iPad/iPhone with Google Calendar or with Calendar on iMac - don't know about that bit yet ... so first part of my question is has anyone any advice here as to the best way to achieve this sync between all devices and Outlook 2010 Calendar?)

I can acess Gmail with my iPhone/iPad to keep up with mail when out and about as well.

So the second part of my question my question is, How do I synch the contacts in Outlook 2010 with my iPhone , iPad and iMac Contacts?

Currently on the PC, iTunes syncs with contacts. Will iTunes on an iMac with OSX sync with Outlook contacts on same iMac running Parallels/Win7/Office 2010?

As always, many thanks for the help and support you guys give.

Regards

Mike

For no reason at all. I just downloaded some new messages ( send and receive)  and I looked over to see that my 3, 213 messages are now gone. Also gone were my 3, 500 sent emails. using imac Microsoft Office ( version 14.0) did nothing strange, noting at all, didn't move anything, can't find them at all.

Any help please!

Hi,

We are thinking of getting an iMac (presumably with OS X Mountain Lion) and Office 2011 with Outlook 2011. There are many postings about synchronising Outlook Calendar with iCal on the iMac and also with iPhone/iPad. Also synching with Google Calendar. I currently run XP with Office 2007 (Outlook 2007). I can sync with Gcal and my ipad with Gcal so calendars are up to date.

This might be a naive question... is it possible to syncrinise the Outlook 2011 Calendar with iCal and (perhaps indiretly via iCal) to my Google Calendar?

I have seen postings like the ones below and am confused. If the Outlook Calendar Synching won't work then the iMac option needs a rethink. (Please, I'd just like the synching question addressed rather than and iMac versus another hardware platform as the answer to the question may deliver other considerations)

Kind regards

Mike

I have a user on an iMac running Mountain Lion and Office for Mac 2011.  When he is using Outlook, and goes to do a general search, it only returns emails back to a certain date.  However, if you scroll through his Inbox, there are clearly MUCH older emails that his search did not find as results that it should have.  Any reason why his search isn't finding all of the emails that it should be?

For example, in the Search box he'll type 'Bob' so he can find all emails that Bob sent him.  When he does the search, it will only return emails from Bob going back a couple of months.  However, if you search the inbox manually by sorting using "From", and look at all the emails sent by Bob there are emails that date back years.  So, why is the search function only returning recent emails and not all the emails?

Thanks in advance!

I work at a place with an Exchange Server and have been using Mozilla Thunderbird, which kept me from using all the Exchange features.
I just did major updates to my iMac, including Office 2012.
I used to think that Outlook was one of the most brain-dead apps in the world, but now I'm giving it a try to see if its useable.
I've actually managed to import all my Thunderbird email into Outlook and I'm customizing the interface so its comfortable to me.

But the one thing that keeps annoying me are the silly day/date bars in the item list.
You know, the ones that say Today, Yesterday, The Day Before Yesterday, and so on.
Is there any way at all to make them disappear?????
And, yes I know they're collapsable, but that just wastes more screen real estate with bars that have no content.
I want them gone.
