A couple of wish list ideas for Outlook for Mac 2014:

  • I'd like to be able to choose the reply format when I reply. Mozilla Thunderbird does this through shift-click, e.g., shift-click Reply to reply in plain text rather than HTML. (Switching between formats once Reply has been clicked is less accurate or useful, because the damage has already been done.)
  • I'd like to be able to add or remove quote levels from plain text emails. (Apple Mail allows this.)
  • I'd like to be able to reflow text when writing a plain text email --- so that it's not done auto-magically when I send the email. Apple Mail automatically flows text, and sometimes (often?) the formatting is messed up as a result. Thunderbird seems to leave plain text alone once you hit send.
  • Better support for tables in HTML email would be great. Thunderbird has excellent support for tables.

Thanks,

-Adam

Greetings.

I have a hotmail account since last decade, and I migrated it to Outlook.com recently.
The issue with my account has happened recently: When I link my account to any desktop email client (MS Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.) It only shows email from 2006, as the attachment shows.
just to be clear, the email works fine on mobile clients such as Andorid's or iOS's native ones or in my Nokia Lumia, as well as on the desktop windows 8 native client.

Hope for a soon answer about this issue, thanks for great service.

Best Regards.

I tried to set up Windows Outlook and inserted wrong information for server. I didn't realise it would be so hard to change the information afterwards so I just gave it a go (I wasn't sure what the server was).

I just bought a new computer and MS home premium 365 for it. On my old computer, I was using Mozilla Thunderbird. Now, I wanted to use my old email address and start using Outlook, and import all my information from Mozilla Thunderbird, which I used before. That's when I entered the server information onto Outlook. I thought I could just try it and there would be no risk. But I was very wrong. Now I can't access outlook and so I cannot change the settings either. I don't know what to do. I also already set up a new gmail because I thought it would be easier to start using a new email address with Outlook. But now I'm completely stuck and cannot do anything. Please help... I really want to use Outlook both on my new computer as well as my phone. But I can't even open it.

The error message I get is: We're sorry but Outlook has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Outlook will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?

I get this message when I try to open Outlook. So I can't even open it. I have also tried to click on 'repair now' but that didn't change anything.

I have also tried to access outlook.exe /resetnavpane but I get the same error message.

Should I uninstall Outlook and then reinstall it, or will I run into additionalk problems if I do that?

I would really appreciate some help...Thank you.

3 days ago all my hotmail accounts blocked (i have 6 mail accounts, one works, 5 blocked) at the same time, I use mozilla thunderbird and all my accounts blocked at the same time, only one accounts (hotmail) works again.

In last 4/5 months it's the third time that my accounts blocked and i recovered the pass any time but now i can't recovery my accounts because the pass that i usually use don't works, i didn't remeber all personal data for any acconts also because some accounts i hold for 7-8 years, so i ask how can i access to my accounts now? I used hotmail from my home pc alwayse so my IP address it's alwayse the same, this could be right to recovery my accounts? and why i must every time to confirm my data and recovery my pass if the problem don't dipend from me?

I understand the security level but at this point it's more easy access to my account for an hacker than me if any time i must to change pass or recovery it if i don't remember it, but also if i remember.

Thanks very much for your attention!

Outlook Express was recently changed, and since then I have not been able to send/receive emails. There is no Send/Receive button in this universe. Looking for it is useless. When I search online for answers, the heading or words supposedly under it are missing. This is very frustrating.
Also, all the emails I had before are incognito. Someone told me to try Mozilla Thunderbird, and after wrestling with that for a few hours, all the missing emails came up, but Thunderbird wouldn't take my password. I have no idea how anything came up in that condition. Thank you, anyone, for your help.
Why will e-mail pix not forward?

For several weeks now I've been unable to send/recieve email on my hotmail account using the windows live client.  Works fine on the web based hotmail and using mozilla thunderbird.

This is the error I keep getting

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (n*******) account.

Server Error: 3204
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE20003

I would appreciate help.  Thanks.

I work at a place with an Exchange Server and have been using Mozilla Thunderbird, which kept me from using all the Exchange features.
I just did major updates to my iMac, including Office 2012.
I used to think that Outlook was one of the most brain-dead apps in the world, but now I'm giving it a try to see if its useable.
I've actually managed to import all my Thunderbird email into Outlook and I'm customizing the interface so its comfortable to me.

But the one thing that keeps annoying me are the silly day/date bars in the item list.
You know, the ones that say Today, Yesterday, The Day Before Yesterday, and so on.
Is there any way at all to make them disappear?????
And, yes I know they're collapsable, but that just wastes more screen real estate with bars that have no content.
I want them gone.
