Have windows live mail installed and have set every setting to plain text in the option menu  but rich text is still displayed in composing new message.

can you help?

A couple of wish list ideas for Outlook for Mac 2014:

  • I'd like to be able to choose the reply format when I reply. Mozilla Thunderbird does this through shift-click, e.g., shift-click Reply to reply in plain text rather than HTML. (Switching between formats once Reply has been clicked is less accurate or useful, because the damage has already been done.)
  • I'd like to be able to add or remove quote levels from plain text emails. (Apple Mail allows this.)
  • I'd like to be able to reflow text when writing a plain text email --- so that it's not done auto-magically when I send the email. Apple Mail automatically flows text, and sometimes (often?) the formatting is messed up as a result. Thunderbird seems to leave plain text alone once you hit send.
  • Better support for tables in HTML email would be great. Thunderbird has excellent support for tables.

Thanks,

A forum I belong to requires that messages be sent in plain text - with no encoding or attachments.  I have the font set to courier new, have no attachments and have typed URL's in so that they are not active links.  I'm still told that forum administrator that my message was sent:

"in a non-plain-text format.  The most likely cause is that your mail program appended an encoded (HTML - web page formatting) version of your message."

How can I send a message from Outlook.com using a plain text format only?
I'm running Outlook 2011 14.3.6 (130613).

Sending messages is fine.

Receiving most messages is fine, however there is a particular email address that comes from the office to my laptop and most of the time (not always), the message is received in plain text instead of HTML.

All other messages from the same office domain are received as HTML.

Any assistance would be appreciated..
I regularly correspond with someone who can only send and receive plain text, so I set Live Mail default to send plain text Quoted Printable (which prevents auto text wrapping) so that he can paste selections into other documents.

He sends very long replies, also as unwrapped plain text, but Windows Live Mail wraps the received mail at 76 characters in the reading pane and window.  This is irritating enough on a 30" monitor with 2500 horizontal pixels to play with, but devastatingly inconvenient when trying to paste into other documents, because text copied from the reading window retains the line breaks that Windows Live Mail officiously puts there.

How do I disable this anachronistic 'feature'?
I wanted to copy an e-mail to a file. I asked the option list for a solution. I had three choices, html, plain text and rich text. However, after I successfully downloaded the content into a Word document and printed it, the Reply and Forward commands through my file into one of the three optional modes and sacrifice the thread into a jumble of markers and letters. I can actually see the messages, separate them, but still too many > signs and other confusing bits added in. How can I default back to the original format?

Hi,

I am new for mac outlook 2011. In Windows version of outlook, I can set reading all mail in plain text. I just wondering that can I do the same thing in

mac outlook 2011.

Thanks

First, what I'm using is Windows Live Mail 2011 with Windows 8.  The last time I posted a question I thought I made what program I was asking about clear, but still ended up being asked what I was using [wry g].

Also, all three of these questions are about plain text email as opposed to html mail.  Several of my mailing lists *only* use plain text, so I need to be able to work with plain text.

First question.  I need to be able to enlarge and preferably change the plain text font (as opposed to just using some sort of "enlarge" button that enlarges everything).  How do I do this?

Second question.  I need to set Live Mail so that it puts an > carat in front of each line of quoted text.

Third question.  How do I set an individual email to send in plain text as opposed to html mail?

I suspect that all these questions could be answered with a "this is how you adjust plain text email in Windows Live Mail" answer, and that would be best of all, because that way I could go through all the options and set everything up just right.

Help?  I've got the html mail working exactly as I want it.  Now I need to make plain text email do what I need *it* to do, too.

Prior versions on windows and mac os let me set my preferences such that incoming html messages were displayed as plain text.  I haven't found the same setting in Outlook 2011 on mac os.  I can edit a single message at a time and that will let me switch to plaintext, but I'd like that done by default without any additional action required.

I find ordinary emails, without attachments, just some lines long, from family, plain text, without any suspicious keywords, in my Junk-Folder. What happens here?
How to prevent?Any idea? THX
