I am trying to find out if I gave a person my home telephone number in the past over messenger.
instead a string of alphabets and numbers appear in place, when I try to reply, all that appear is the same string of alphabets and numbers. I've tried deleting messenger and re-installing but its still the same. Help? ):
My messenger account was hacked. The person changed my display name, picture and posted an obscene url link. It looked like a bot because it took 5 password changes to get rid of it. My profile looks like my name and picture are correct,
but friends tell me the name is still showing the one the hacker changed. I don't see it anywhere in my settings. How do I fix it?
I used to be able to send voice clips, but now I can't. What's different is that I reinstalled Windows 7.
The strange thing is that when I go into "Set up audio and video devices" the microphone volume gauge picks up my voice. Not only this but I can have audio calls with friends and they can hear me. So it's clearly not a microphone driver issue (I can also
use Windows built-in Voice Recorder without any issues). It also shows that WLM recognises my microphone AS working (as I can have audio calls).
However, when I attempt to send a voice clip it says: The option to record voice clips is turned off.
This makes it seem like it's a choice...however when I go into Options...Messages. the ONLY bit about voice clips is under "Automatically accept when I receive" - this field, however, is faded out and I can neither tick or untick the box.
Consequently, I can't receive voice clips either.
Does anyone know why? Why can't I send/receive voice clips even though WLM acknowledges my mic. and speakers work....?

What info do I give to someone so that they can contact me, and do video-chat with me, on Windows Live Messenger? My Email Address, that's part of my Windows Live ID, that I use to Sign-In? Something else, that in effect, is my UserName or UserID, at least for Windows Live Messenger purposes? Other than my own Windows Live ID that I created & use to Sign-In, I don't recall or have any record of having created, or having assigned to me, anything that might constitute a UserName or UserID, if there is such a critter. If there IS a sort of UserName or UserID, at least for Windows Live Messenger purposes, that I've forgotten-lost ... and ... IT is the info I should provide to others I meet face-to-face with while traveling ... then How or Where would I find or recover this info? When I setup Windows Live Messenger on my Desktop, I did do the auto-send of multiple invitations to the folk I selected from my Contacts list, but that was a quick auto task, versus handing out the info needed, to someone in a face-to-face meeting, so they can initiate a video-chat session with me at some later time, using Windows Live Messenger. Want to be completely accurate about any info I add to my printed business cards. If not completely obvious by now, my only use, to date, of Windows Live Messenger, has been as the recipient of incoming video-chats from a few of the Contact folk previously auto-invited by me during setup, & that's been less than 5, total. Will begin new round of extended travel in about 2 weeks, & just dawned on me that I better nail this down, now. Thanks in advance!

Everytime my friend writes an O it has this person blowing bubblegum to look like an O. So I clicked add and now everytime I write O that emoticon comes up. But how do I get rid of it?
