Downloaded win 8. bad mistake! Can’t access hotmail acct by changing passwords and usernames

Managed to get new Hotmail acct but can't get into the one that disappeared when win 8 moved in . Won't accept new winlivve ID or any changes of password or user name .I sent myself an email from the new account to the old one and it didn't bounce back, so the old one is still there but I can't access it to read.

I keep losing the content of emails. Instead of the content of the email, there is a message saying " The content of this message cannot be found". Does anybody know why? I'm having this problem only since I've been using Windows Mail.

Have received an email asking me for my name, username, password from Hotmail Team. There is threat to disable my account if not responded to within 24 hours giving this information. Supposedly discontinuing unused accounts. Is this genuine, or not?

When I get emails the time is incorrect for when it was received. example receive email at 5PM but hotmail inbox shows 9:40 pm. My clock is correct on my computer.

Can’t connect to Hotmail.

When I click on Hotmail, this message appears: We can't connect to Hotmail right now. Please try again later." If I click on an email message, a box appears that says: Internet Explorer has stopped working" and it closes the program. Can someone please help? This has been going on for 3 days.

1/ If I view the “message source” for an email in my Hotmail account, is such viewing of the message source safe (lets assume the email itself is not safe or contains potentially unwanted code)?

2/ are emails with domains or links to “microsoft.windowslive.com” authentically from Micosoft/Hotmail? (as there is a bit of a debate about this on the net)
