I have tried following the directions given by various people on how to block a contact. However I can't even find where it says  'options'. On my drop down menu I do have 'options' but that just takes me to a settings page. Nowhere can I find anything to do with blocking senders. Help please... :-)
I have successfully removed a name an email address from the contacts folder,
BUT it is nto removed from the drop down box in the address bar "to" when I want to send a new email.

In case this doesn't make sense, let me explain:

I have removed Helen Brown from my contact list and when I wish to send an email to anyone at all whose entry in the contact list starts with "H" then the drop down box that imediately shows (to save me having to type the full address) not only shows other contacts whose entry starts with "H" but it still shows the entry for Helen Brown, which I had deleted from the contact list for my Inbox.

Please: How do I remove the name from the drop down box ?

Thank you in anticipation for your help.

you know, go to type something in TO: window, a drop down appears with all the email addresses it has captured, none of which I want. So I want to delete them all, but windows hotmail did not find it convenient to inform me of how this might be done. I've asked this before, and the answers were all bull, cause none of it worked. I need detailed step by step, accurate information, if you don't mind? If I can't remove will delete account altogether cause sick of the care-less attitude of windows hotmail etc, etc. What else is new? At least I was able to eliminate from gmail. I appreciate aany help, but do need real help, not some bogus bull pulled off ask.com or other sites like that.
I have tried following the supplied instructions.  It just loops me back to the contacts page without doing anything.

Have you tried to export contacts from your Hotmail account using (.CSV) file?

If no, here are the steps to export contacts from your Hotmail account:

1. Sign in to your Windows Live Hotmail account.
2. At the top of your Windows Live Hotmail page, point your cursor to Hotmail.
3. From the drop down menu, click Contacts.
4. Click the Manage link that is located beside Send e-mail.
5. From the drop down menu select Export.
6. Enter the 8 characters from the picture.
7. Click Export button.
8. Save the file to your preferred location.

After exporting contacts from your Hotmail account, you can now import the contacts to other account.

THIS DOESN'T WORK.  :-(
Several people have accessed their hotmail accounts from my computer. Their names, ie. *** Email address is removed for privacy *** remain in the pull down menu from the sign in box. I would like to remove their names. How do I do this.
On hotmail sign in page how do I delete unwanted e-mail addresses from the drop down box?
how can I delete the e mail adresses which appear in the drop down box when I enter my initial to sign in
When I open the window to write a new email,  I go to the "To" drop down box to select a contact. At the very bottom of the contact list in bold black capitals is a choice "MDSR".
I cannot delete it and I want to. The only information that ever was revealed about it was an email from some drunk sorority site. Now it's embedded.
I need an option to delete it. It does NOT appear in my regular contact list,  the "People" page. Prior to the conversion to the People app, it was still on that drop down list and I couldn't delete it then either.

Now what?

A long time ago when I signed into hotmail it offered to open me a separate linked account. I did this and now I'm receiving 100 pieces of junk mail an hour delivered to that address but going directly into my main hotmail account. I tried to unlink the account through the options menu but this account simply isn't there. However when I click on the drop down menu of my name when I'm composing an email, there the account is. I really need to remove this second linked account but I don't know how. Any help?!
