I exported contacts.  Then I deleted them all.  Then I imported them.  The groups that I had defined came back, but they all had zero items in them.

When rec'ving emails with links to other pages, I get an error message and the link does not open. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the windows program, also tried the repair nothing works
I am unable to use links from Windows Live Mail to Internet Explorer and receive a message that either h.link.dll or idndl.dll is not designed to run in Window or contains an error. If I access the mail using the web browser (BT Yahoo) the link in the mail operates perfectly and directs me to the web page. I have tried a windows live mail repair, uninstalled Live Essential and reinstalled it but all to no effect. Can anyone help please.

I can not recieve email in my live mail.

I manually configured it and made a mistake.

I have Windows 7.

How can I fix it?

I installed WLM when Windows 7 first came out. I have version 14.0.8089.0726.

It seems that there have been several updates since. I have run Windows updates and it seems everything is up to date. But it does not seem to update WLM.

I do have a Microsoft account and do have Outlook.com installed (just as a trial), but I still want WLM to be my main email client. I have no need for Windows Live Essentials (I don't really know much about it, but I don't want messenger or any more stuff!)

Is there a simple update for WLM that will just perform the update without me having to reinstall or worry about losing my emails and account setups?

Reading the other posts it all seems so complex and convoluted. Maybe I should install Thunderbird or some other stand alone email client?
Is there a difference between windows live mail and windows mail?  can windows mail be used with windows 7?
I have tried following the supplied instructions.  It just loops me back to the contacts page without doing anything.

Have you tried to export contacts from your Hotmail account using (.CSV) file?

If no, here are the steps to export contacts from your Hotmail account:

1. Sign in to your Windows Live Hotmail account.
2. At the top of your Windows Live Hotmail page, point your cursor to Hotmail.
3. From the drop down menu, click Contacts.
4. Click the Manage link that is located beside Send e-mail.
5. From the drop down menu select Export.
6. Enter the 8 characters from the picture.
7. Click Export button.
8. Save the file to your preferred location.

After exporting contacts from your Hotmail account, you can now import the contacts to other account.

THIS DOESN'T WORK.  :-(
I have suddenly started to get this message when I close down a win dows Live Mail session. Why?

Hi,
I’m currently using Windows Live mail 2011 and I have switched from Windows mail which had worked for me perfectly. However, upon switching to Windows Live mail 2011, I discover this error after several weeks of good usage. I have tried to narrow down the possibilities of this error to a few below:

- My ISP is working fine, no issue. It worked well on my outlook - it can send and receive.

- Weeks after I switch from Windows Mail to Windows Live mail it worked very well - it can send and receive.

- I notice that on the top right hand corner, there is a sign in icon. Previously, I didn’t sign in and it still worked perfectly.

- I have tried wireless and wired connection, both worked perfectly online. Both allows my Windows Live mail to receive emails but I just can’t send emails out.

- I have tried to change SMTP to 567 but it didnt work.

- I have tried to windows update and did Windows Live Essential repair, restart WLM, delete emails from outbox, restart Laptop; but it still didnt work.

So it beats me why am I having this error.

Your kind help are appreciated.

Thank you.

Josh.

I have Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail.  My mother has Windows Vista and Windows Mail.  She scanned a document and saved it as a pdf.  She tried to send it to me as an attachment to an e-mail.  The attachment arrived, Expert PDF Reader opened it, but it was blank.  I tried to research why it was blank and informed that my security settings kept some attachments from opening as a security measure.  Where do I find my security settings and what do I do to open my mother's attachment?  Is there anything else I need to know about this issue?
