I have just purchased Office 2011 for Mac. I have an outlook.com webmail address that I want to access via this desktop application.

Having searched online I cannot believe what I read, that I cannot sync my existing email folders with my desktop version of Outlook? If this is the case then I guess I will have to set up a gmail account instead... but surely this cannot be true? Outlook will not synch with outlook.com ??

Any suggestions for how to get this to work would be much appreciated!
I can login to Outlook Webmail with my Hotmail account, but my folders are all freezed with error. I can not check or write emails through my PC. No problem in mobile devices.
Hi Everybody,
I noticed that my sent folder does not update when i send an email from my webmail, and found that it is because i use POP3 settings. Can somebody please tell me how to change my settings on outlook from POP3 to IMAP.

Thanks & regards,

Murtaza Khan

why can't i connect my COX webmail account through windows 7 livemail? We have 2 computers on one network . Both machines have windows 7.

Desktop is working just fine with connection to COX webmail through LIVE MAIL. Laptop is running the same system and it is not able to import messages from a different COX webmail account. I have checked the address and reset it like 50 times and it will NOT let us in for that machine...

Help

This issue started about a week ago. If I ignore all the known issues with Outlook 2011 since moving to Mountain Lion, I would say Outlook has been running fine until last week. I couldn't see anything on the forum that was similar to my issue. I have also posted this to the Apple support forum.

Here's my computers info:

  • OS X (10.8.2(
  • Processor: 3.1 GHZ Intel Core i5
  • Mem: 12 GB 1333 MHZ DDR3
  • Office 2011 Version 14.2.5

Here's the issue:

My work email is set up in Outlook 2011 version 14.2.5 using IMAP. I go through my day as usual reading emails, responding to them, and filing them away in folders (on the server). I can go through 100 emails in my inbox to only 10 by the end of the day, all have been read. Emails that are no longer in my inbox have been either read, responded to, filled away and/or deleted. I am able to receive and send emails with no errors. However, once I leave work and view my emails online or on another program (such as MacMail), I see those 100 emails still in my inbox! I see no pattern to it either. (The most recent email in a conversation has been marked as read but several earlier ones were not).

The strangest part: All those emails I filed away in folders on the server or deleted are in those folders AND in my inbox. Therefore, if I refile the emails, or delete them I will have duplicate emails in those folders. I've tried repairing the folder but that only put the server inbox back into my outlook but I still can't make any changes that show on the Webmail. We've also rebuilt the identity and that didn't do anything.

If I make any changes in Mail (On a different computer that is on Snow Leopard) or on the web, I just sync Outlook and it shows the changes in Outlook but it won't show any of my Outlook changes in the webmail.

Essentially this is the syncing issue:

Other programs --> Server --> Outlook = OK

Server --> Outlook = OK

Outlook -x-> Server = NOT OK

I'd like to reiterate that this started last Tuesday (Nov 20) and I can still receive and send emails just fine and no email has been lost.  Our IT can't figure it out.

I sometimes get a notification of incoming mail via Windows Live Mail, which I generally use for e-mail,, but when I click the icon on the system tray, there is no new mail.  I found the missing e-mail on another e-mail webmail system supported by my ISP, virginmedia.com.  Any suggestions how to rectify this anomoly?

Original Title: "I am getting the following error message"

When trying to send a group email that I typically send each week without problems, I get the following error message.

5.1.3 <@ >... List:; syntax illegal for recipient addresses

We have been having trouble with our webmail account via AT&T but thought everything was settled.

When an email thread builds up to multiple replies Outlook displays the old mail in the thread in a single character column. Its pretty hard to describe without posting a picture but to illustrate a text like "this" would be displayed as:

t
h
i
s

And the text "On November 6th 2012 Joe Bloggs wrote" displays as
O
n

N
o
v
e
m
b
e
r

6
[well you get the idea].

The same email viewed from Mail.app displays just fine. As does webmail.

What am I doing wrong?
