Today I received an email from facebook regarding my security being changed (something I did not do and when i checked my facebook security had been compromised).  As i was reading this email, it disappeared.  I checked in all folders and it is not there.  It was as if someone was logged in alongside me and had deleted it.   I have since changed my password and security details on my hotmail account where the email was received to.   DOes this sound possible and is changing my password enough?
My mother and some friends told me she got an email off my old email asking for money etc (standard fake email stuff). I want to delete the account but have forgotten my security details so can't access the account. How can I get Microsoft to delete the account for me?
As above really. I have tried getting my password reset for a long time even before my accounts were separated but nothing. I assumed it would be simple enough as seeing that I accessed both accounts through my main but no - not good enough apparently.

Please could somebody help? I just want to get my old mailbox back!
I received a message from "Microsoft" asking me to update security info within 7 days or my account would be frozen. I haven't a clue as to what this message is asking or whether it's actually from Microsoft. If there is an actual live body at Microsoft monitoring this board (sorry for the snark but you can understand why) could you please tell us whether this message is real and how we should respond. Tom
I cannot get into my emails, Microsoft say someone has tried to access my emails and I must verify my security details before they will reset my password. I have filled out the security confirmation link 5 times and it keeps saying they cannot verify from the info given, as I have had this account for maybe 6 years I need access to important emails on that account. I tried to verify my details 72 hours ago again and received confirmation they had my request but still not had anything else back since???
Hi,

I signed in to my hotmail account today and was told that I would need some kind of security code. The only option it gave me was to have the code sent to a very old email address which I don't believe even exists anymore.

There is an option to update the security details on the account but it won't update for 30 days!?

Am I going to be locked out of my account in 6 days?

I use my hotmail just for basic emails with friends and don't need or WANT this level of security? I just want to use my email.

I DO have access now but I'm worried I will be locked out soon. Can some admin help me? I can provide ANY details that are required.

I have received an email purporting to be from the Hotmail Team asking me to give them my security details. I know that it is NOT from Hotmail but who do I forward it to for investigation

Toni

When I try signing in to hotmail a Windows Live screen sometimes automatically comes up asking me to add more security details, ie. mobile number, trusted pc, alternative email add, security question.  Is this genuine and, if so, is it just a case of answering one of these rather than all?  I would never respond to an actual email asking for info like this but can only presume as it's an actual page that pops up after signing in that it IS genuine....but you get so wary about anything these days!!
