Outlook has timeout errors connectng to a pop3 server continually, whilst mac mail, thunderbird and any other mail client I download has no trouble.

Usual error is the old sever may be busy or high network load rubbish.

Especially if the pop3 server has more than 1000 msgs but not limited to this.

I am ready to give up on Outlook and go back to Mac Mail (despite the inferior junk filter!)  Any ideas ?
Seems Im not cut out for this windows live. I cant seem to get it to retrieve message from my cox account. Continue getting the POP3 error, hasnt responded in 60 seconds, would you like to wait another 60 seconds. With this error message if I hit stop. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Cox  account. A time-out occurred while communicating with the server.

Just bought a new computer after a storm compromised my old computer.  I had Outlook Express before, and had my e-mail transferred to the new Live Mail account.  I have followed the instructions I got from my ISP several times, and I believe I have all settings right, but I keep getting pop ups that say the Pop3 server is not responding, or error messages--usually 550, that SMTP is not working for outgoing mail.

I tried to do a live mail chat with an ISP rep., and he referred me to the written instruction link that I'd already been using.  It's been a week now, everything else is working, and I'm getting my e-mail by going on the internet, but Live Mail would be easier, and offers more options.

When I click on the send/receive button the message in the title line appears in a little black box..... it appears to be coming from Hotmail live which is what I am trying to use as the POP3 server.
