Perodically, all of the current email stored on the mail server is downloaded.   I've did a fresh install of Mavericks and Office 2011 and have the latest patches installed.  It is annoying to download the complete inbox every couple of hours.  The only other choice is to have outlook download all email from the mail server, but this does not allow me to view from iPhone, etc.
Hi.

I'm trying to set up Outlook to act as mail server for my domain. The issue I'm having is with the MX record settings. The settings I'm asked to put in won't work with my registar.

They are asking me to use

  • DNS record type: MX
  • Host: mydomain.com
  • MX server: c869f59ea7f2e8459f3dacee39b0ad.pamx1.hotmail.com
  • TTL: 3600 or 1 hour
  • Priority: 10 (or High priority)

The issue I have is that my registar won't let me set the TTL as 3600 it says it has to be 14400 and when I try to set the host to my domain it reverts to @.

So I can't configure the settings in outlook.

Hi

I have a web page where users log in and creates invitations and guestlists. The invitation is sent to the guest email address and its here the problem starts. When I from code(c#) send email from my page to @hotmail and @outlook addresses they eighter don't get delivered or ends up in the receivers junk folder. I have checked with my web host and the mail gets sent correct from their mail server so the problem must be when it reaches microsofts mail server.

Can someone advice on what the fault is?

Regards
David

So in outlook 2013 I go to file->add account

Choose manual setup(as the automatic option fails of course)

Choose the second option:  outlook.com or exchange server etc

The next screen requires this info
My name:
email address: *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
mail server:
user name:
password:

two questions:
what is the mail server name?
is the user name the whole email address or just the blah section.

thanks in advance

Hi. I was using outlook2013 in windows 7 and there was no problem with that. Now, I am using Outlook2013 on my windows 8. All of my accounts work, except my university mail account which has POP3 SMTP server. I have enabled "My outgoing server require authentication" and that "this server require and encrypted authentication(SSL)" and used TLS for encrypted connection, according to the mail server help. But I receive the error of "the mail server responded:553 5.7.1". What should I do?

I have seen reports from others on timeouts and errors on outlook 2011 since upgrading to Mac. I have these, but also all mail on my BT mail POP3 accounts keep downloading all mail left on the server (1000s of mails). I deleted these on the mail server but the same happens for all new mail (as if if cant keep track of the mails already downloaded).

As a temporary fix I have change the account behaviour to delete all mail downloaded from the server, but this is not an acceptable long term solution.

Has anyone else seen this, or found a fix?
Following upgrade to Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, Outlook 2011 (fully updated) started reporting frequent errors with mail connections. ALL my five email POP account servers report error with time-outs, dropped server connections, cannot find mail server, etc.  One of my IMAP servers also started reporting Idle errors. I get a dozen of these an hour. When ignored, mail is still being sent and received. Some Apple Community posters recommend migrating to a new user, but I am not sure that will solve the problem. Is Microsoft aware of this problem (reported by dozens on the Apple boards) and are they working on a fix?
My ISP uses Yahoo for it's e-mail.  Suddenly Outlook.com can't access those e-mail accounts.  It has been up and running for quite some time before this.  Nothing has changed.  I can directly login to that e-mail via Yahoo's mail portal.  I've verified that all of the settings are correct.

This happened once before, but cleared after a few days.  I am using Chrome for my browser, the latest version.

Does anyone have any ideas?
