why is the email address no longer recognised

Hi, my husband's Hotmail email address is no longer recognised when he tries to sign in even though it's normally used on a daily basis.  He haven't been able to access it for a few days and he has just rang microsoft for support who said his computer is full of viruses and he would have to pay £250 for a year to rectify the problem.  It's not his computer that's the issue because I can't access it from my computer either.
Please, if anyone has any suggestions or a contact number for Homtail, let me know because he needs to access his emails urgently.
Thanks for reading

What is the maximum number of recipients I can send an email to from my hotmail email account? Is there a limit?

Windows Live Mail (WLM) errors 0x80048849 and 0x80048820

My ISP (xplornet.com) uses gmail as their server.

I currently have my xplornet.ca email address added too WLM and it works correctly.

I have tried setting up a hotmail email address into my WLM program on my computer.

After setup (which is automatic, no manual configuring of settings or ports etc...) the synchronization works, be it only once in a while.

Most of the time, I get these error(s) # 0x80048849 or # 0x80048820.

I have contacted (Removed email address for security reasons).

Their last response was :

Thank you for emailing Xplornet.

I am sorry that we don’t have anyone trained with Hotmail but as it is not our product we do not troubleshoot it. We are trained to troubleshoot the Xplornet email addresses that use webmail through our website.

I am sorry but we are unable to help you with the issues you are experiencing with Hotmail on your third party email program. You can try contacting a local pc technician or Microsoft for assistance with the issues.

How do I fix it so it works on command, send/receive, like it supposed too ?

Has anyone else had a request from a Windows Live Hotmail Team (email *** Email address is removed for privacy ***) asking for your account name, password, security questions etc. They keep telling me we will loose our hotmail email account if we do not provide  this information? Is this a scam??

Since changing over to Outlook I’m having difficulties opening emails

15. October 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: anything, cache, difficulties, etcetc, home, Hotmail email, work

I can get into my account (an old hotmail email address) but since I changed over to Outlook I have found that I can no longer open, send emails or really do anything basically.  On my home laptop I just get nothing, no errors, just nothing.

Yet I can access my account from my work pc??

I have searched the forums and I have cleared my cache etcetc - I've done all the obvious stuff, just very frustrated now as nothing seems to work - what is going on?

I'm on IE 8.0.6001

is Hotmail email on the way out?

09. October 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Messenger · Tags: access, Hotmail email, message, problem, way, WLM
Is hotmail on the way out?  Right now I am having quite a time with a conflict with hotmail and Windows Live Msgr. fighting each other.  If I access my hotmail account, I get the message "WLM encountered a problem and needs to shut down".  Was reading about someone shutting down hotmail for the , yes, "new and improved" something.

Is there a fix?  Do I need to set up another email account?  How do I let all the people in my address book know?  What a mess it will cause!!

Say it ain;t so, Joe.  Don't take my hotmail away.  How about just a fix and quit giving me new stuff.  I am old and fear change..

I have part of her credit card number, subscription information and other personal information.  Have contacted Apple because several emails are from them and they said they have disabled her account but they are still trying to contact her through this email address.
