I have a XP computer that I ran Outlook Express on for a number of years then upgraded to Window Live and Windows Live Mail, all without any problems. I recently bought a new computer and wanted to extract the WLM folders from the XP machine and transplant them on the new Windows 7 machine or at least import them to the new machine.
I can only find the old Outlook Express folders that contain two year only mail. When I look in WLM, tools, option, advanced, maintenance, store Folder, on the XP machine, it gives me a location. When I go to that location it does not exist. How can the program work? Better still where are the folders?
In folder view all the necessary boxes are unchecked giving me full view access to files and folders.
I need to resolve this.

I'm using Windows Vista with Windows Live Mail for desktop, Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308).

I noticed yesterday that all the storage folders (I had about 10 or 15) I created have disappeared.  When I delved deeper I saw that they have all been moved into folders buried under the "Recovered Items" folder.   Two folders appeared to have been created on 20th May this year (the folders have the date as the name) and all my missing folders are under here (with a few levels of hierarchy in between)

Why has this happened and how do I recover all the lost folders and emails?

I know I could re-create the folders manually and manually copy all the messages across, but this will take a while and should NOT be necessary.

Is there a quick (or slightly quicker) fix?

I read somewhere that I should compact the messages (go to Options/Mail/Advanced/Maintenance/ Compact messages after every 1 (not the default of 100) runs.   I did that but it made no difference.

Can someone help please?  Thanks.

I really like the new outlook.com

The only thing preventing me from using hotmail/outlook as my primary (switching back from gmail) is being able to archive indefinitely as I've grown used to with gmail.

Is this at all possible with outlook.com via some kind of single button click without having to manually move each message to a specific folder?
I am trying to move my local folders from my old mac to my new mac (both running outlook 2011). Looking to see how this can be done.  I tried copying the Microsoft user data folder from the old mac to the new mac but that still did not show my local folders. Help appreciated..

Hello,

I'd need assistance writing an AppleScript to extract the first name, last name,  nickname, and sender address from every message in a folder in Outlook for mac:2011 then populate a new Excel spreadsheet. Once in Excel, I'll manually remove duplicates.

I want to rebuild my autocomplete history in Outlook for mac:2011 after migrating from Apple Mail.

Outlook only allows you to Add Sender to Address Book one message at a time.

Here's what I have:

on run {}

tell application "Microsoft Outlook"

set theAccount to imap account "Me"

-- Get the messages selected in Outlook

set currentMessages to current messages

set mailFolders to name of folders of theAccount as list

-- Check to make sure items are selected, if not then quit

if ((count of currentMessages) < 1) then return

-- Iterate through selected messages

repeat with aMessage in currentMessages

-- Get the account for the message

set messageAccount to account of aMessage

set messageSender to sender of aMessage

sender of every message of folder "INBOX" of the theAccount as list

end repeat

end tell

end run

Thank you.
When I import an old Outlook Express message I cannot find it in my storage folder like the directions say it should be. When I click on the Imported folder, It blinks like there may be something there, but I can't see anything
Hope I can explain this right, but I'll give it a shot.

Just got my first Mac and have installed and setup Outlook 2011 to connect to my Exchange 2007 server.  When I open Outlook, it connects to the server and downloads my e-mails.  The problem is if I do something within Outlook (such as read messages, delete them, move them to another folder, etc), those changes never get reflected back on the server.  So if I were to look at my e-mail on my phone or my PC, all my e-mails appear as new and unread.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?
I believe a booking confirmation found its way into my junk folder... I get so much that I must have missed it when I emptied the folder.

Is there any way to get it back?? I need to print the email to get into the event.. :(

Thank you
MICROSOFT HAD ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM WE HAVE TO CLOSE AND RESTART

THANKS
My current folder size is over 40gb, theres one identity folder which occupies 9gb data which i think is the main since it says its last opened/modified one. while the rest which i think its not important uses 4-5gb (each extra identity folder contains atleast 4-5 gb data and i have around 6). Is it ok to delete those and keep the main one?
