Exchange account, server not reflecting deletion of emails from Outlook 2011 client

Hi all.

We have one client using Outlook 2011, connected to an Exchange 2010 account. When he deletes emails in Outlook, the changes do not appear to take effect when he logs in later via OWA, his iPad or a windows client. And changes he makes at home (via OWA) then take effect when he opens outlook here at work when it first updates everything.

I've spent a bit of time looking at the settings between his machine and a working account, and I can't seem to find what is different and causing the problems. And, as I take it, because it's an exchange account, the option of "Delete emails from the server when deleted on this computer" (or however it goes) isn't anywhere in the options..

Anyone have any ideas?

I am currently on an exchange server with work and use Outlook 2011. I will no longer be with the company after tomorrow. I want to delete my exchange account and e-mails from the server (so that nobody can't see them after I am gone), but I want to still be able to see them in Outlook when I use it through a pop account. Is there a way to copy e-mails from an exchange account (using outlook) to a pop account (also using outlook). In the end, I will want to delete my entire exchange account and files off of one computer but still be able to see all the e-mails and calendar content from that account in another account. What's the best way to do that?

I have an Exchange account set up on Outlook 2011.

I want add a new email (pop) account.

When i click the + button an the accounts section, then select 'email' the accounts section hangs.

How can i add a second email account? thanks

Hi - I have just purchased a new macbook pro and office for mac 2011 - when I follow the instructions to set up my gmail account in outlook I am unable to bring up the form to complete after following tools/accounts/+/add email - does anyone have any ideas as to what might be happening? if I select exchange instead of email I get a form to complete. The thing is I am not setting up an exchange account, rather a gmail account. Thanks

Haven't seen this problem identified anywhere else.

Am trying to add an email account to a new Outlook install but every time it causes a hang on the Accounts page. Force Quit is the only way out.

Have retina MacBook Pro running Mac OSX 10.7.4. Installed Office 2011 yesterday and successfully added an Exchange account which sync'd correctly.

When I go into Tools/Accounts and click the Email Accounts button (or the + bottom left) nothing happens ... but this window stops accepting input - no clicks work, it can only be minimised, and Outlook won't allow a regular Quit. You can only Force Quit.

I tried deleting the Exchange account but it doesn't make any difference.

So, I can't add any email accounts to Outlook.

P.S. I don't believe I have Service Pack 2. About Word says I have version 14.1.0

I have just installed Office:mac 2011 Home & Business on my new mac book pro. Before setting up my email account, i have transfer my data file, Main Identity, from my previous Entourage, and import them into Outlook before i create an email account.

Now, i have problem creating my email account. When i click on preferences>account> (Exchange account or Email account), i have problem setting up my account using Email account. It didn't response to when i click and it freeze and i have to force quit it.

Hi. I recently switched to a Mac and I am using Office 2011 for Mac. On my PC I was using Office 2010. I have set up a microsoft exchange server account for my work email, but I can't find a way to automatically delete messages after download. A lot of forums are saying this isn't possible with an Exchange account, but this just isn't true because my PC does it just fine with the exact same account. Can anyone help me with this?

Outlook 2011 (14.2.2) – Can’t connect to Exchange account after update

After I did the most recent update to Office 2011 (Outlook v. 14.2.2) I can no longer connect to an Exchange server. I made no configuration changes and the same account can still be accessed in Entourage 2008 (on same computer) as well as on iPhone.

As suggested on this site and others, I repaired permissions on the disk. I also deleted the account and tried to re-add it to no avail.

For the time being, I am getting by with Entourage 2008, but definitely would like to get Outlook 2011 working again as I prefer it (though I am now glad I didn't delete Entourage!)

Let me know if anyone has any solutions.

I have an exchange account for work that I can't get to work on Outlook. It works fine on my Iphone, and did work for a brief few weeks on Outlook, but then stopped working - I think sometime after the service pack upgrade.

I either get a message telling me that the server is not running the correct version to enable this to happen - which having checked with the IT guy is not correct. Or when I try and add it manually I get error code 18597

I don't understand as I did manage to get it working

It would make my life lots easier if I could sort this. Unfortuately I am the only person who is running a mac and the IT guy is not very clued up on mac issues

Any help gratefully received
