thankyou for your answer to my 1st question "can't find how to activate the preview pane"

I did as you said, but upon opening "view menu"  Layout is greyed out and wont open. Is this because i haven't made Windows Live Mail my default email program?

In Microsoft Office for Mac when creating an appointment the Location drop down menu is blank. How do I access all of the recent locations I have entered manually?
I use synch services in Outlook 2011 Mac to 'synch' contacts between Mac Address Book and then my iPhone and iPad.

Today, using iTunes I synched my iphone with Address book as I do every couple of weeks to synch changes that I may have made, since Outlook Mac won't synch with iPad / iPhone and the cloud.

However, the changes that were updated in my address book from my iPhone DID NOT update to Outlook as they always had.

I looked under tools/synch services and I see that although the pull down menu is there, there are no options to select anything.

I did have an 'identity' issue a few weeks ago and while readying the forum I think that may be the problem.

I moved all the old identities to another folder and out of the 'microsoft user data' folder hoping that would do it, but it didn't.

I read also to delete some files from my user/preference/com.microsoft.....plist but I could not find them.

Does anyone have any ideas how to get Outlook to start synching again?

Thank you,

JWB
I am running windows 7 SP1 with 4 G ram and an intel I5 processor and direct X 11 Ihave downloaded windows essential from the web and it appears to have installed OK. The programs  i.e. messenger etc are itemised in the start menu. However when I click on any of the Essential programs there is a brief pause while windows searches? for the program and then nothing else happens. None of the Essential programns will respond. Twice I have uninstalled and reinstalled the programs and also checked if the firewall is blocking the application. I have wasted much time and effort on this problem.
I added a new contact but when I want to send an e-mail to that contact it doesn't appear in the drop down menu.  What can I do?
Several posts here refer to the Delete function appearing on the top menu bar when you select a contact or group of contacts. You then press delete and it brings up a confirmation box where you press delete again. But that doesn't appear on my browser (Internet Explorer 9). The closest I get is the 'Manage' drop down menu, which includes a function to restore deleted contacts, but not to delete existing contacts. Am I looking in the wrong place? Does my browser need to be reconfigured? Any advice?

I have grouped contacts together but can't see how to edit those groupls.  Half an hour trying to do what was easy before recemt hotmail changes.   Now I click on 'hotmail' and select 'contacts' from the drop down menu, then click on 'all contacts'  (beneath 'people') and find the group of contacts that I want to edit.    I click on the group and the list of people within that group duly appear.  Then I look at the options lined up next to 'people' which look promising ie 'new', 'manage' (and 'send mail') and spend about half an hour exploring the drop down and going round in circles because none of those menus add one of my contacts to the group.  I tried looking for standard instructions to  no avail.   It's probably easy and obvious to everyone except me, so please HELP !   Thanks.
I can't toggle between Outlook's windows. When I click the Windows menu item, there is no sub-menu item to toggle to the next window. I only see the names of the windows that are active with no keyboard shortcut beside them. When I use [command + tilde] I hear a bell ringing (clear indication that I've done something wrong) but the windows do not toggle. From what I've read, this should be a basic command. What am I missing?

FYI - I use keyboard shortcuts in other applications all the time. I have also tried every combination of command, function, option, control and shift along with TAB and tilde.
previous versions had that option in the 'privacy' tab in the 'tools' drop menu.
