Starttls problem upgrading to Outlook 2011 from Entourage 2008

I upgraded from Entourge 2008 to Outlook 2011 (gmail is mail host) and now I get the starttls error for outbound messages (can receive just fine).  But there is no where to set TLS as an option  - only SSL, which doesn't work.  Any ideas?

windows live mail will receive gmail messages but not send them.

I can receive email but not send.

I've also tried changing the port to 25, but I still get the same error.

Outgoing mail from Ipad2

I can not send out email from my ipad.  Can someone guide me toward what the settings

should be?  The only setting I see for outgoing is the SMTP.  It's set at smtp.love.com..   

The incoming host name is pop3.live.com

I have been receiving mail,  but can't send anything out.

Email from Microsoft in my spam box? Is it authentic?? or fake?

I received an email  in my spam folder that says it was from Windows Live.

 

 WindowsLive.Msg.24hrs-15@msg24hrs.-46-e.localhost.host.smtp.MICROSOFT-SERVERt.82.244.22.3.net

I am thinking this is just a spam message. Microsoft shoudl have all my account info and send to my inbox. Am I correct???  I have not clicked on any link in this because I don't trust it.
