Identity problems with Outlook 2011 for Mac

18. October 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: back-up, everything, exchange account, front, Identity problems, Macbook pro, morning, yesterday
Hello everyone,

Since two days I have had major problems with my identity in Outlook 2011. I restarted my MacBook Pro (runs on 10.5.8) and my Outlook prompted me to rebuilt my identity which I did (I have an Exchange account - did not know YET I should have not done it with this type of account) and my account as well as all my folders were gone.

I downloaded a back-up from my Carbonite and yesterday - following the instructions about how to create a new identity if you have an Exchange account, rebuild it, etc. restored and backed-up everything. Everything "perfectly" working until early this morning.

I shut down Outlook, restarted it and - wop! - all gone again. I sit in front of an empty Outlook.

Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Can’t connect to Exchange Account on my mac

04. October 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: Account, everything, exchange account, exchange server, Exchange server name, mail, microsoft exchange server, office, support, the Exchange server
Using Outlook for Mac 2011 I can't connect to my Exchange account.

I have read the tutorials and online support pages.

I have consulted my IT administrator who repeatedly confirmed that my settings are correct and everything should work.

My organization uses Exchange Server 2010.

My account credentials and Exchange server name are correct.

Outlook is set to work online.

My network connection is available.

The server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server is available.

My Exchange account does not require me to log on by using an encrypted channel.

My computer does not require a mail proxy server to connect to the Exchange server.

On top of all of that, I can't check my email on Outlook Web Access(OWA) on my mac either. My company uses Lync and that has stopped connecting as well.  All of these were working at some point.

However I can check my email on OWA on any other pc - windows or mac in the office and at home.  Other people are able to check their mail on my mac and I can access the internet on my mac with no problems.

Since the problem arose, I uninstalled and reinstalled Office but when I go to create an Account in Outlook using my Exchange account, it just tells me that the authentication has failed.

Please tell me that someone out there can tell me what's up????

Send/Receive closes all accounts except Gmail…

Send/Receive closes all accounts except Gmail
I have an Exchange account, two Hotmail, and one Gmail all assigned to Outlook 2011. When I press the send/receive icon, or select the same command from the ribbon, all the accounts except Gmail close on the sidebar menu. I have to close Outlook and relaunch it for the accounts to show up again. How can I get this to stop happening? Thanks.

Outlook for Mac 2011 Sound Not Working

04. September 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: arrow, everything, exchange account, IMAP, Mac sound, Notifications, preference settings, Working
I recently added a second account to my Outlook, which is an IMAP account.  The first one is an Exchange account.  After I did this, all my sounds disappeared from Outlook.  The Mac sound works fine with everything else.  I went into Notifications and Sounds in the preference settings and all looked fine there.  In fact, when I pressed the "play arrow" next to the sound in preferences, it would not play.  I also noticed some other quirkyness with Signatures.   Any troubleshooting suggestions?

Exchange account needed for meeting invitations?

I try to send out an invitation to a meeting through the Calendar function in Outlook 2011 for Mac, but can't get the reply options to show up in the message. The message is sent out to the people I invite, but they can't accept or not accept the invitation.
Do I need an Exchange account to make this possible?
I have my e-mails set up as IMAP-account on the web host one.com.

What other functions in Outlook (if any) require an Exchange account instead of an IMAP-account?

If I reply to a meeting invitation sent to me from some one, and I accept the meeting, will everybody on the invitation list see that I have accepted the invitation or only the person who sent the message to me?

Thanks,

Karin

SMS in Outlook

Hello,
is there a way to sent a text message (SMS) out of Outlook for Mac 2011 and how do I set it up. I do not want to go through an SMS provider. My Outlook is configured as an exchange account on my server. Is there a way to use my iPhone when it is connected with my Macbook as a gateway to sent SMS. I want to use the keyboard on the Macbook to make things more comfortable.
Thanks

Michael

Welcome window comes up every time I open Outlook 2011

23. August 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: everything, exchange account, mac, mail, office, Outlook, problem, sort, Welcome window
I have a brand new mac pro with nothing installed on it besides Office 2011.  I started up Outlook and got the welcome window.  I went through setting up my Exchange account  and everything seemed to work.  All my mail showed up, everything sends and receives, good to go, right?  Well, sort of.  It's functional, but every time I shut it down and open it again, it brings up the welcome window.  If I hit continue, it goes into outlook no problem, but it seems not to be retaining my settings apart from the account information (I go into preferences and tell it to hide on my computer folders and the go away, but they are back as soon as I start it again).

I've tried rebuilding my identity, no luck.  Any ideas?

Office 11 errors with Mountain Lion

Hello, After upgrading to Mountain Lion and installing Office Mac 11 I keep getting an error that says: Microsoft Office encountered error and must close. I also keeps defaulting to first time set up after reboot. Has anyone else had this problem? I have already reinstalled the OS and repaired disk permissions but it is still happening. I am connecting to an exchange account. It all worked well with Lion. I am also using Centrify for AD integration.

Cannot add POP/IMAP account to Outlook – but Exchange works fine. Seem to be missing the window to enter login info.

Cannot add POP/IMAP account to Outlook - but Exchange works fine. Seem to be missing the window to enter POP/IMAP login info.

This is a new installation of Office 2011 on OS X 10.8.

I've used the same installation of Office 2011on OS X 10.6.8 and it worked perfectly. It's not a login issue. I can send and receive mail on that system no problem.

The symptoms are: I can add an Exchange account and it works fine. A window appears for me to enter information.

However when I try to select the "E-mail" account type (i.e. POP/IMAP). No window appears. The buttons on the Accounts window change as if there is a modal dialog open. Hitting escape re-enables the minimize, maximize, and close buttons.

You can see see screen shots here:
01 Adding Exchange Account (no problems, works as expected)
02 Selecting POP-IMAP Account (no problems, other account type is selected)
03 No window visible (problem - note condition of window buttons. but there's no place to enter POP/IMAP login info)

Tonight I completely removed Office 2011 following the instructions here (as suggested at the Genius bar). Then I completely reinstalled. Same issue as before. I can add Exchange accounts all day long, but no window appears when trying to add POP/IMAP accounts.

Regards,

Tom

Applescript issue with Outlook 2011 not seeing text in user name field if followed by the backslash

08. August 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: AppleScript, application, backslash, exchange account, microsoft, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook account, text
Using Applescript I can get the user name in Outlook 2011, but it will only display the text that comes after a backslash if present in the user name field.
With this Applescript I can get the user name from Outlook:

tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
get the user name of exchange account 1
end tell

result--> username

But in the Outlook Account it reads:

ADDOMAIN\username

If I use Applescript to enter a user name it just appends the user name to the ADDOMAIN\ text

tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
set the user name of exchange account 1 to "username2"
end tell

In Outlook account settings will result in:

ADDOMAIN\username2

Is there any way to clear this invisible text using Applescript?  I need to deploy this to 1000+ users so using Applescript is the preferred method vs. going to each user's computer individually.
