HI I have someone who is on 10.6 and has Outlook 2011 for Mac.
He has a fairly new computer. He chooses "Below" the option in preview pane. however when he quits Outlook it reverts back to hidden. Any advice? Trash prefs?
I am attempting to import Windows Live Mail messages into a new computer, but it refuses to do it! The details are as follows..............
The source is the hard disk from a crashed Acer laptop. The machine is irreparable, and WinXP will not boot in any mode. So I coupled the hard disk to a borrowed laptop running Win 7 Ultimate, and used Ubuntu to find my data on the hard disk from the crashed Acer. I found and copied my data, and using a memory stick transferred them to the destination - my new Asus laptop running Win 7 Home Premium. This was successful, and I can read documents, spreadsheets, etc, using Libre Office. Wonderfull!
I used the same Ubuntu software to locate my email files, and copied them to the memory stick. Looking at the properties on the borrowed Win 7 Ultimate laptop, all seems to be in order - I can see folders, and the files have .eml extensions as expected.
But when I plug the memory stick into the new Asus, and try to import into WLM, it fails, saying either there are no files (there are!) or that they are in use by someone else ( no!) But as I look at the properties now on the memory stick connected to the new Asus, all the files have lost their .eml extensions, and now have new extensions like 00000001, 0000000A, 000000078, etc..... So I guess WLM says no files because they have all lost their .eml extensions.
It may be relevant that the old Acer was running XP Pro, 32 bit, the borrowed Win 7 Ultimate machine is 32 bit, and the new Asus Win 7 Home Prem is 64 bit. Incidentally, I have checked and the default file extension for WLM is .eml (but it is greyed out.)
I really need these old emails, so I will be extremely gratefull if anybody can help me to fix this issue and get the emails transferred.
There is either a problem here, or my iMac's (late 2006) hard drive/OS is corrupt. Even with a clean install of MS Office 2011 and then updating it to 14.2.2, and with iCal purged of all prior associations, when you run Sync Services on a POP Account the
entries loop and continue repeating themselves indefinitely, this in turn launches MS Office Reminders into a frantic tizzy, and after a few moments you have lost control of your computer. The only way out is a hard reset.
I will wipe my hard drive and come back to this forum next, but for now, I am posting this because i am seeing no other posts that admit to this problem.
I don't want my history saved, my laptop is sometimes viewed by other people and I would rather not have my converations saved. how do I make messenger stop saving them?
they call upto 3 times a day and say they server keeps gettin warning alerts from my computer.and tryin to say how to sort it????? is this a hoax ???? they also ask for money near end of call... get quiet rude on fone aswell..say things like ...madam how wud i know about warnings and why would we keep calling
and telling me there call centre keeps getting warnings from me computer is this an attempt to hack my computer...an wud microsoft really be phoning me???

OK Just updated my office mac to 14.2.2 and now I cannot see inbox emails, can see sub folders and email in those, and see some inbox emails when applying filter but one should not have to do this. Running lion with latest updates Need a solid fix and
fast this is a business computer and is now wasting valuable time and money. Please advice on fix many thanks Andy
He struggles with the tech things but trusts me with his details etc; can I do the recover.reset operation(s) from my own computer here for him..??? (I do not mean via 'remote' access at this time although I know that is a possibility, as i would rather be able to this for him independently as he gets so frustrated!)..thanks John D xx
I receievd a strange e-mail from him (supposedly) the other day (yesterday) which was a mail advertising some USA(?) electronics/consumer electronics etc supplier...therefore we suspect his account has been hacked....
Every time I start up my computer the Messenger window pops up, how do I stop this please?
Would be happy to remove it altogether as I don't use Messenger anymore.
