I added Windows Live Messenger to my website. It shows me as Offline when Im clearly online and talking to contacts. What to do about this???

How come my Yahoo contacts appear offline in the Messenger client window even they are online?

When I type :-) it shows just that....my emotions no longer display even when I click on one it converts it to symbols. How can I fix this?
i was downloading some programs that would help me to clear junk in my computer and after installing and stuff i went to messenger and i couldnt send messages and could not see messages sent to me too. all i saw was a really long code in the typing box..and
everything else was fine except alll those< i've tried re-installing windows live essentials 2012 but the same problem occured. help please? desperately needing help.
So when I sign into messenger even if I have contacts online it doesnt show them and it also doesnt show I have any emails when I do.....Does anyone know why this is happening??? Thanks
