WLM closes and reopens when I go from contacts back to mail.  Any suggestions will be welcome.   Thanks.
Hi All,

I am facing an issue related to running WLM on my windows vista, each time I run the App it gives me an error message stating that :
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.

What I did that I collected the SxSTrace and from it I observed the below error is occurring each time:
ERROR: Two assemblies have the same assembly name with different version. Assembly 1: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4148_none_5090ab56bcba71c2.manifest. Assembly 2: Ȗ.
ERROR: Activation Context generation failed.
End Activation Context Generation.

Is there any idea about this conflict and what is its solution?

Regards,
Thanks in advance
WLM won't open, it says I need to install a Windows Live Essentials update but when I try I get an error message 0x80070005 saying only an Administrator can install the software but I am logged on as an administrator
I use long time Messenger (WLM 2009) in WinXP and now I buy new notebook with Win7 and WLM 2011. I cannot entry the new  WLM, even I control my login and password in Windows Live server. In the same time I can entry the old version but not the new!!!
What now to do?
My Windows Live Mail reports 13,585 in All Email, in all of my folders I can find maybe 5,500.  There are only two in my Junk folder.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks!!

I've installed the Essentials 2011 update and now my WLM won't work. Errors when WLM is opened and again when trying to reply.

Have avoided the update for a long time but now the update has become more insistent so I installed it.

When WLM is opened I get this error window:

At the top it reads;

Need help with this fix. Until then I am rolling back my system to the previous version and will continue to cancel the 'Manditory Update' until such time there is an update or fix to these errors.

I took my Dell computer to a local shop to have some work done. They called me and asked for the reinstallation disk to reload windows so of course I lost WLM. The computer a 64 bit os.I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Themorning I took the computer in WLM worked fine.I have tried several of the suggestions found on microsoftanswers.com with no luck. The first one was to right click WLM icon and run as administrator. Then go to control panel and choose user accounts. Next it says to click on change user account and control settings. On my computer I don't have a change user account and control settings to click on. The other suggestions I had no idea how to do.Please help!!!

I am on Windows 7, live mail version 2011.  printing to a laser printer.  output is very light, can hardly read it.  can't find any settings to change.  can't see borders around the day's.  yes when i print other items, live an email, all is fine.  printer is working.

tried printing calendar from hotmail, same thing...

I use Window 7 and don't have PPT application.

When I receive an email with ppt attachment, the program freezes up  and cannot do anything.

I get a musical 'ding ding' for every key I press.

How can I close this application without doing a shutdown.

Merci, CarmenCMRD

I am attempting to import Windows Live Mail messages into a new computer, but it refuses to do it! The details are as follows..............

The source is the hard disk from a crashed Acer laptop. The machine is irreparable, and WinXP will not boot in any mode. So I coupled the hard disk to a borrowed laptop running Win 7 Ultimate, and used Ubuntu to find my data on the hard disk from the crashed Acer. I found and copied my data, and using a memory stick transferred them to the destination - my new Asus laptop running Win 7 Home Premium. This was successful, and I can read documents, spreadsheets, etc, using Libre Office. Wonderfull!

I used the same Ubuntu software to locate my email files, and copied them to the memory stick. Looking at the properties on the borrowed Win 7 Ultimate laptop, all seems to be in order - I can see folders, and the files have .eml extensions as expected.

But when I plug the memory stick into the new Asus, and try to import into WLM, it fails, saying either there are no files (there are!) or that they are in use by someone else ( no!) But as I look at the properties now on the memory stick connected to the new Asus, all the files have lost their .eml extensions, and now have new extensions like 00000001, 0000000A, 000000078, etc..... So I guess WLM says no files because they have all lost their .eml extensions.

It may be relevant that the old Acer was running XP Pro, 32 bit, the borrowed Win 7 Ultimate machine is 32 bit, and the new Asus Win 7 Home Prem is 64 bit. Incidentally, I have checked and the default file extension for WLM is .eml (but it is greyed out.)

I really need these old emails, so I will be extremely gratefull if anybody can help me to fix this issue and get the emails transferred.
