Hi Guys.

Recently my iPhone has been very temperamental when syncing calendar events. I've narrowed it down to my Outlook 2011 calendar not syncing with iCal, and therefore not transferring onto my phone.

I've tried a multitude of suggested fixes, such as clearing out iCal and retrying the sync. Also, I've tried turning off Sync Services, closing outlook, reopening it and enabling them, but that made no difference to iCal at all.

Outlook is up to date, and my iMac is running Snow Leopard. Please, can someone help me? It's driving me up the wall!

Many thanks in advance :)

I have been using outlook for almost 20 years, but I am about to give up on it.  When I switched to Mac in 2010, I loved the ease of use of the MAC OS compared to the perpetually bugged MS Windows OS.

I found a few things though.   While Office 2008 for Mac was prettty good, the Entourage email app was pretty poor not allowing HTML formatted email.  This is not a major problem except when trying to forward HTML emails as they would appear all scrambles.  As imperfect as Entourage was in email, the calendar and contacts feature were solid and syncing with iCal and Mac address book was ROCK solid.

I upgraded (now it feels like a downgrade) to Outlook 2011.  There is no question that the other apps (word, excel, powerpoint) are better than the 2008 Office, but Outlook 2011 is HORRIBLE due to problems syncing with iCal and address book.

I was able to sync with iCal and Address book for a while, but eventually the sync services stopped syncing appointments.  After hours and hours of research, I found that I could deactivate MS Sync Services in Outlook preferences, in the Library > Preferences folder I deleted the file named: com.microsoft.Outlook.SyncServicesPreferences/plist file and reset sync history in iSync.

I then turn on sync services but I found that every time I did this I got duplication of any calendar event that was an "all day" event.  The only way to do this would be to delete all my calendars in iCal before starting to sync again to replace all the data in iCal.  The other bigger problem is that after a while, the syncing would again stop working.

Sure I could reset everything again, but the effort to go through this process over and over 1-3 times per day makes this process unworkable for me.  I have worked on this problem too long.   The bottom line is that MS Outlook 2011 Sync Services DO NOT WORK RELIABLY!!!

After almost 20 years, I must now say goodbye to Outlook. Without a reliable sync to iCal ( and then to my iPhone) Outlook calendar and address book are useless to me.  Sad day, but if anyone can help me fix this problem, I will happily stay with Outlook as the calendar is much better than iCal, but without rock solid syncing, it is useless.

Hi,
I can successfully sync my Outlook for Mac calendar with with my iMac calendar. I can  also sync calendars between all my Apple devices, iMac, Macbook, Macbook Air, iPad & iphone provided I enter the details using Apple calendar. What I wish to achieve is for any calendar item I enter in to Outlook to sync with all my other Apple products. The key seems to be that all Apple devices use the icloud calendar whereas Outlook synchronises using a non iCloud account. Is there a way to make Outlook default to the iCloud calendar when synchronising.
Hi there,

I am having a lot of trouble with iCal.

I have Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 and ipad2.

I have a lot of calendar entries in Outlook which I like to see them in iPad. After turning on the sync services, I found that there are duplicate entries in iCal.   The duplicate entries only exist for those "all-day event" but no others.

As I have used Calendar since 1998 so there are probably hundred of those duplicates over the time. I just bite the bullet by deleting duplicate entries in the hard way. week by week and entry by entry. Unfortunately, iCal is taking like 30 seconds to delete two or three entries. So this is not working for me as I do not like to spend days in deleting all those duplicate entries.

I delete all iCal entries, clear the plist file, cache, etc and re-sync again. And duplicate entries come again.

Are there ways to avoid duplicate entries after Outlook sync?

Please help.

Many thanks,
Samuel

I cannot install the Office 2011 Update 14.2.3 - i get a message saying Sync Services needs to be turned off - I believe I have done this but still not joy - can anyone help?
We have selected the Outook for Mac 2001 to sync with Address Book through Sync Services.  BUT, the Contact Information in Outlook 2011 for Mac IS NOT SYNCING with the Address Book.  HELP!
I know it has been asked a dozen times, but can you sync Outlook Cal/iCal/Google?  I've tried using sync services with iCal...nothing appears.  iCal to Google calendar works like a charm.

I've tried the fix where you delete sync preferences.plist  It didn't work.  I'm a new mac user (been using Outlook PC for years) and have been playing with a trial version (14.2.2).  My OS is 10.7.4.   Do you have to use a 3rd party software?

I'd like to see it work before purchasing Outlook 2011.  Any suggestions?
How do I export my Outlook contacts, calendar and notes data into a 'clean' iCal, Mail and AddressBook app?
These mac apps already have the same outlook information but it is completely outdated, and I do not want it back in my Outlook.
Therefore, is there a way to wipe out the information from these mac apps and then activate sync services in order to synchronize Outlook iCal, Mail and AddressBook?
I fear that if I simply erase the information from these apps, activating sync services may erase my fresh information in Outlook.
Thanks!
I started noticing lots of (read: over 25000!) duplicated calendar events in the last weeks (a few events with up to 2500 copies!) which made Outlook 2011 and my iPhone totally unresponsive.  This was probably the result of having a mixed setup of iCloud / MobileMe / Exchange 2010 / Local calendars etc.

I finally got rid of the duplicates on my Exchange 2010 account  (I used http://www.vaita.com/ODIR.asp  on Outlook 2010 PC) leaving about 900 events, and cleared the local and iCloud/Mobile Me events (so I only have entries in Exchange 2010),  but I'm wondering now if I actually still need to enable Sync Services in Outlook 2011 (I'm running v. 14.2.2 atm), on OSX Lion 10.7.4 at all?

iCal (+Tasks/Reminders) and the Apple Address Book seem to have decent support for Exchange 2010 out of the box (via Apple System Preferences > Mail, Contacts & Calendars), so why should I enable the Sync Services in Outlook 2011 still?  It's a pretty confusing option.

I decided to reinstall Outlook 2011 and started syncing mail and the de-duplicated calendars again from the Exchange 2010 server (while keeping Sync Services disabled), but now I notice these types of errors showing up for probably the majority of my calendar entries:

ERROR:
An error occurred while updating the calendar event "*TITLE*"

DETAILS:
Please delete this event and create a new event.

Error code: -19126

I double checked some events which generated the error, but at first sight they simply look correctly synced in Outlook 2011.  So why these error messages?
I am currently using MS Office 2011 for Mac. I am trying to sync my Outlook DB with my Blackberry Desktop Manager but when I click on Sync Services in Outlook, it is blank. Any idea what is the problem here?
