I'm trying to send an email from Windows Live Mail and the emails won't send. The following message keeps coming up:

An unknown error has occurred.

Subject
Server Error: 421
Server Response: 421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 89.238.162.71 (89.238.162.71:25), NB connect error 1460
Server:
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC67
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No

How do I fix this??

Hi,

I recently ran the update for Windows Essentials 2012 and ever since I'm unable to send emails to addresses of the same hosted domain.

Originally I couldn't send emails at all so I checked my email address properties with my hosting company and they have confirmed they are correct, but because I was receiving a timeout socket error I spoke with my ISP who changed the smtp server to their smtp server and unchecked requires server authentication.

This allowed me to send emails outside my hosted domain but I'm still unable to send to an email address of the same domain.

I never had any problems at all until I ran the Windows Essentails 2012 update. I've tried removing and adding the email account several times and uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Live Mail, I've even spoken with Microsoft who sent me here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Julian.

Hi

I have just installed Outlook with Office for Mac 2011, and am having problems with emails getting stuck in the Outbox - I've tried all the solutions I can find on the Microsoft site - please can anyone help?

This is the error I'm getting:
Cannot send mail. The SMTP server does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Outlook. Try changing the SMTP authentication options in Account settings or contact your network administrator.  (Error code 17092)

I am trying to use my gmail account and have enabled POP.  I'm using 'pop.gmail.com' '995' as the incoming server and 'smtp.gmail.com' '465' as the outgoing - emails are coming in OK I think, I just can't send anything.  Have I got the right outgoing server settings?

Many thanks
I have been using Windows Live Mail 2012 (Build 16.4.3505.0912) for over a year at least. I am a Time/Warner Road Runner customer and I use Live Mail in conjunction with the T/W mail server. Last night I discovered that I was not able to send mail from my Live Mail (WLM) program to the Time/Warner mail SMTP server (TWC). I am however able to receive mail from the TWC POP3 server.  I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1.

I have verified with Time/Warner tech support that my mail settings are correct.

I can send mail from my web based mail box to my WLM desktop application and any mail that comes to my e-mail address *** Email address is removed for privacy *** is forwarded to WLM. However when I try and send mail from WLM to the SMTP server I get the following error message

The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***', please contact your email service provider.

TWC tech support believes that, from their end, all settings are correct. We even tried an alternating SMTP server and port:
mail.twc.com and port  587.

I have tried a number of suggestions from this forum without success.

I've set up a couple of email accounts with the MAC Mail App and whilst i seem to receive emails ok, for some reason i am unable to send any.

The problems seems to be with the connection to the SMTP server??

I've checked the settings for 'Apps that support POP3 and SMTP' and these are the same as my Mail App but for some reason i still can't send any emails…..

Am i missing something?

I'm trying to add a send/receive external account to outlook.com. I can access the pop3 mail box of my
external email account successfully. However when I try to configure the smtp server I get the
above error message. The server settings I am using work fine in windows live mail 2012 and
also mozilla thunderbird and previously did with outlook express and windows mail.
If I try to import the settings from live mail, the settings displayed are correct, but I still get the
same error.

Judging from the plethora of hits I find relating to this or a similar issue this has to be an
Outlook.com problem. The only solutions offered seem to be requests to try Live Mail to
see if that works with the same settings. Well it does just fine. So how can we progress to a solution ?

After confirming that username and password are correct and trying every configuration of port and toggling "Requires a secure connection", I am not able to use my outgoing server.  Incoming POP server works fine.
Hello,
I am running a website, where we use the service of domains.live.com in order to send emails from the site system.
The emails are being sent through our SMTP server of a company that host our site using the live service with our domain in the mail address.
The problem is that our emails are caught at the SPAM folder, even of Hotmail account itself.
The emails consists only 2 lines of plain text without HTML code.
When I try to send the email from www.hotmail.com site interface the email gets directly to the inbox.

How can I solve this problem?
I would be very grateful for any help,

Best Regards,
Tamir
