Sir,

I have tried to do the following instructions but somehow failed to do so. I am not aware where the mistake came from. Below is the instructions provided to us and the actions I executed.

Dear Jonalyn,

Please follow the steps below to migrate mailbox from Office 365 to Outlook.com.

1. Log in to the Outlook.com through
http://www.outlook.com/. (My action: Log In- *** Email address is removed for privacy *** +password)
2. Click  on the right top side of the page and click More mail settings. (done)

3. Click Your email accounts under Managing your account. (done)

4. Click Add a send-and receive account under add an email account. (done)

5. Type in the name, Office 365 email address and password and click Advanced Options. (done) this is what came out .

6. Please log in to OWA of Office 365 through
http://mail.office.com/. Click on Options> See All Options… Click Settings for POP, IMAP and SMTP access… to find the POP3 incoming server information and SMTP server information. (done.. this is what came out)

7. Type the information into text bars in Outlook.com settings. Please make sure the username is the Office 365 email address. (I did not change POP because it the same digits seen in the POP3. I only changed SMTP Server from 465 to 587. And in the Username I changed Jonalyn to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

8. Click Next to finish adding. (After hitting Next. Below said " There is a problem connecting to POP3 mail server.

Then the email will be downloaded by Outlook.com from Office 365 server.
If you need detailed and professional support, you can click on the link below to contact our Outlook.com support engineer.

I use outlook.com through IMAP and everytime I launch MS office 2007 I get an certificate prompt and have to click 'yes' to bypass it. I have installed the certificate to my PC but this doesn't resolve the issue.

my settings are as followed:

email address: *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

imap server: imap-mail.outlook.com SSL on port 993

smtp server: smtp-mail.outlook.com Auto on port 25

Outgoing server requires authentication

I am using outlook 2007 client.

I have reduced my IE trust settings to LOW, this didn't fix the issue.

I have added the certificates, this didn't fix the issue.

I prevented the PC from requiring SSL authentication all together, this didn't fix the issue.

I tried setting up the above account without any SSL, the mail account wouldn't connect to the server!

Please advise this doesn't happen with my google IMAP email addresses!

Hello,
I have been unable to setup my email because I keep getting WE COULD NOT SIGN IN TO YOUR SMTP SERVER message. I used to be able to get email on Outlook.com using the SMTP but I had to change passwords on my server and when I tried to change it on Outlook.com settings, I have been having issues ever since.

1. I have read and followed the steps in setting up send / receive messages on POP accounts and for information about Outlook.com POP server, from the article below:

Set up your Gmail, Yahoo! Plus, or Microsoft email accounts in Outlook.com

2. I have already gone through my server's tech support (Verio) to see if it's an issue on their side as well as if I had all the proper information, which I did.  There are no email server issues and I have all and am inputting all the proper info.

3. I used the exact same information on GMAIL as a test and it worked instantly. I did NOT receive any SMTP errors.

4. I have tried setting up both a SEND ONLY and a SEND AND RECEIVE accounts with no luck with either.

5. I have triple confirmed my username and password (again, it works fine in GMAIL).

PLEASE help. I love Outlook.com and don't want to be forced into using GMAIL.

Thanks!

Hello, i have that problem.

When i try to set up my email-of-domain that use Outlook.com as webmail in my Office Client Outlook, the SMTP doesn't connect without care if is the option of IMAP or POP3 !.

I try this configuration but just the SMTP server doesnt finish the validation. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/outlook/send-receive-from-app

I try with the part of IMAP & SMTP and POP3 & SMTP

  • Server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com

  • Port: 25 (or 587 if 25 is blocked)

  • Authentication: Yes

  • Encrypted Connection: TLS

Which will be the reason that my Outlook Office Client doesnt connect?
I have been having problems sending emails from the SMTP server. This has been going on for 6 months. There was a community thread started way back in February where many people described the same problem with their accounts. Over the past few months, moderators have entered the conversation with suggestions and advice that were already attempted numerous times, and it has become clear that they are either not reading through the thread or they really don't know how to resolve the issue. Supposedly it was escalated, but any time an update is requested, they go through the SAME THINGS that were already attempted or provide no support at all. I have been as polite as possible, trying all the moderators suggestions and advice and letting them know the outcomes, even though these were already attempted by myself and others quite a few times. For the 2nd time in a month, I have had a moderator answer me with a suggestion, ask me to let them know the outcome, and then the thread was locked. This is awful support service.

To describe the issue, once again, for the bajillionth time, I want to send emails from my hotmail account using gmail and the outlook SMTP server. I have done this for 2 years now without any problems until a few months ago when I kept getting error messages after sending emails. Then anytime I tried entering my password to authenticate on the SMTP server, I would get this message:
Authentication failed. Please check your username/password.
[Server response: 535 5.2.1 Login to your account via a web browser to verify your account. code(535) ]

There was a thread where someone suggested linking another account to the account you were trying to send messages from, essentially forcing two-step authorization to stop. This worked until Microsoft decided to remove the linking accounts feature without warning. Now I am back to square one and I want a solution! Or, at the very least, I deserve enough courtesy and respect to be told the issue won't be resolved and that I can move on.

Hello,

I am a PHP developer and my users with hotmail accounts cannot receive any email from my apps such as user registration messages. I am using PHPMailer library with SMTP authenticated connection to a SMTP server. It's only when user has a contact in contacts list with exactly the same Name and email address when there is no problem receiving emails. That's quite bad because at the very first time users do not have my address in their contacts list and thus they cannot receive the first communication.

Also I am having no problem with other email servers such as Gmail or Yahoo. Please, can you give me some advice or solution?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

I have created an alias to my outlook.com email account. The alias is of my corporate email ID. The alias was created without any issues, and the alias was configured for 'send and receive'. The 'send and receive' function is working fine from the webinterface of outlook.com.

Problem #1
Now, I configured the corporate email ID in my email client, MS Outlook 2013. The configuration was done with the auto-sync facility available with MS Outlook 2013. The sync is working wonderfully well in receiving mail (pop). But incase of sending mails, some of the mails, especially the one with attachments are not getting delivered. I understand the actual process happening in like this - Outlook 2013>Outlook.com>My Email Alias SMTP Server. Somehow the system is failing in some mail deliveries.

Problem #2
I used another of my corporate ID in the similar fashion but this time with another email client. I configured the email client as POP and SMTP, and not auto-sync. The POP server used was pop3.live.com, with my email alias accessing the pop server. The system is working fine without any issues.
The SMTP server has been configured as smtp.live.com with port 587, SSL/TLS. Here, the problem starts. Some of the mails are getting lost, especially with attachment.  understand the actual process happening in like this - Outlook 2013>Outlook.com>My Email Alias SMTP Server

But if I change the SMTP server to my corporate mail server, smtp.domain.com, the system works wonderfully well, with 100% mail delivery, even with attachments (including heavy attachments).

Somewhere the system of Outlook 2013>Outlook.com>My Email Alias SMTP Server is becoming unreliable.

CAN SOME ONE HELP ME BY THROWING SOME LIGHT OR RECTIFY THIS ISSUE.

Why I want to route my mails through outlook.com?
1. Has larger capacity than my corporate mail.
2. Has better features to sync with other devices.
3. Backs up mail even if my email client corrupts (which my corporate smtp sever never does).
4. Quick to access using webmail option.
5. Integrates with my social network. Hence, with a single log-in I can perform multiple task.
