It has been doing this for awhile. I have uninstalled and reinstalled windows live mail. I am using windows 8.

Can anyone help with this problem.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Charter(1) account. Header download for the 'Drafts' folder did not complete. Could not download new messages from the IMAP server.

Server Response: The server did not respond to this IMAP command before the connection was terminated.
Server: 'IMAP.charter.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0F
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 143
Secure(SSL): No

I get the following message:

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server.

Subject 'Time out test'
Server: 'mobile.charter.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC19
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes

The IMAP server at mobile.charter.net works OK. The SMTP server works fine with Thunderbird. It worked for several months with WLM until recently, the last couple weeks. It was failing at home where the ISP is Charter and away where the ISP is Comcast.

I'm ready to export all my local folders to Thunderbird and uninstall WLM. I tried uninstalling WLM, hiding its data that's in the AppData folder and reinstalling. It still times out.

I checked  other posts with the same problem from 2 or 3 years ago and there was never a possible solution.

All,

I've just setup Outlook 2011 for Mac (14.3.9) to work with my corporate IMAP server and have noticed a strange behaviour. When I drag an email out of the inbox into another IMAP server folder, the email gets put in the new folder and disappears from my inbox in outlook, as you would expect. However, if I access my inbox from my iPhone, or via a web interface, the moved email was never deleted from the inbox - so I have one copy in the target folder, and one copy in my inbox.

What appears to be happening is that Outlook is not syncing the delete of the message from the inbox back to the server. I've tried 'Purge Deleted Items' (no effect), and if I do 'Repair Folder' then I will get back those messages there were supposed to have been moved.

Does anyone have an ideas? I've gone through all the settings and searched the web and have come up blank.

Windows Live Mail 2012 was working well but suddenly I get the following errors:

"Unable to send or receive messages for the Outlook (eferg) account.

Header download for the 'Inbox' folder did not complete.

Could not select 'Inbox' on the IMAP server. Try updating the folder list and then try again.

Server Response: Select Command is not permitted in current state (NotAuthenticatedServerError)

Server: 'imap-mail.outlook.com'

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCCD2

Protocol: IMAP

Port: 993

Secure(SSL): Yes"

I have tried all day to resolve this with no success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Over the last few months, Windows Live Mail has not been downloading all email messages. It will download most of them, except for one or two. These will stay on my IMAP server along with the others (none are deleted from the server) and I can see them on webmail. They also get downloaded to my iPhone no problem. I've missed some important emails this way so now have to double-check webmail or my phone regularly to make sure Live mail hasn't neglected to download something. There is no consistency in which emails are not downloaded. It's happened from at least four different recipients, all of whom I've received emails from into Live Mail successfully, sometimes on the same day as the ones that won't download. Is there anyway to make sure Live Mail downloads everything? Thanks.

I have a new laptop, and upgraded to Windows 8.1.

But from the very start I keep getting

"Windows Live Mail

Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks...

Unable to send or receive messages for the Aol (jeremypssm) account. Header download for the 'Drafts' folder did not complete.

Could not complete. Could not download new messages from the IMAP server.

Server Response: The server did not respond to the IMAP command before the connection was terminated.

Server 'imap.aol.com'

Windows Live Mail Error lD:0x800CCC0F

Protocol: IMAP

Port: 143

Secure (SSL): No"

What's going on? And how can I prevent this from continually appearing?

Help would be much appreciated!

I am having a problem.  We recently upgraded from POP to IMAP service.  The speed of receiving emails and syncing with Windows Live Mail running on Windows 7 decreased dramatically.  I have concluded the problem is specific to Windows Live Mail based on the effects observed and noted below.  Here are all the devices & software we are using and how they were affected after the changed to IMAP.

  • Windows Live Mail + IMAP account = slow as molasses on a cold January day
  • Apple Mail =  same as before the change from POP to IMAP; fast
  • iPhone Mail = fast
  • WebMail for the IMAP service (on various machines & browsers) = no change; fast
  • Windows Live Mail running on the same machine + a 2nd email account which is POP = same as before the change; fast

This is very frustrating.  Does anyone have a solution he/she can share?  (P.S. My Windows software is up to date).

thanks in advance.

Here's the problem:

I have MS Office 2011 with Outllok and at some point, Outlook crashed and I was asked to rebuold trhe database. Did so, and late found out that a whole lot of mail from a period of about a month was missing. Both from Sent Items and Inbox - from the same period.

In Outlook I have several folders with sorted mail stored locally, that is ... maiul which is no longer on the IMAP server. I also have several folders with sorted mail under the Inbox on the server.

The missing mail is missing from the Inbox and from Sent Items.

I started torebuild the database without succes (error -18000) several times.

At this point Outlook is up and running again, but all those mails are still missing, and in the process it also lost (contact to) all the locally stored folders with sorted email for different projects and tasks.

---

My objective is to get everything back to how it was. I need the missing mail, and I need the local folders with their content. I am sure the local folders are somewhere on the harddisk, but where are they and how do I get them back into Outlook?

The good thing is: I have a TimeMachine backup made a few days before the apocalyptic crash. If I can restore that, everything is there, except mail newer that the backup date, but that's not a problem, since that mail is still on the IMAP server.

However - the missing mail that dissappeared from the Inbox and Sent Items is NOT on the server.

So how do I go about this?

----

My plan is:
Change the mail password, so Outllok cannot syncronize with the server.
Restore from time machine, so I will get all the mail back - including the missing messages.
Locate the missing messages in Outlooks Inbox and Sent Items, which will hopefully be there, until Outlook syncronizes with the server.
Copy the missing mails to two made-for-this-purpose local folders.
Change the password back, syncronize and then move the missing messages to their respective folders, so the server will accept them and not delete them.

----

Questions:
Does the above sound like the right way to go?
What folders and files is it I should restore from TimeMachine?
Should I delete everyting in /Documents/Peter/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities before I start?
What else would I need to do that I did not think of?

All help appreciated and welcome.

:-)

Desperate Peter

(if it is important: MacBook Air 2 GHz i7, 8 GB RAM runnin 10.8.5 and the backups were made on a network connected Time Capsule. I looked at the Time Capsule and found the backup is a .dmg file that I have copied to an external USB harddisk which is now connected directly to the MacBook Air. Doubleclicking the .dmg files results in a disk image on the Desktop)
