Is it possible to limit the number of simultaneous (imap) connections that Outlook uses to communicate with servers. As an example, I'm able to limit the number of active connections to 1 or 2 with Thunderbird. I'm not finding the same capability in Outlook though. I'm requesting this in response to the error message that comes from too many simultaneous connections with my Gmail account. By limiting it to 2 on Thunderbird, my account has not had any problems.
How can I manage this in Outlook? Thanks.

Hi,

I don't care what is causing the error, but I NEED to suppress the pop up alerts.  Once they start popping up, they deem Outlook unusable. I tried everything from rebuilding the database, reinstalling Outlook, disable error logging, etc. Once the cause of alert is gone, things go back to normal. Same behavior is replicated on my other two MBP's and iMacs.  Other colleagues are experiencing issues as well.

The relentless pop up window is very destructive to productivity and a disappointing design.

I have Win 8 & Outlook 2013 with Gmail and get this error message:

Microsoft Outlook Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Too many simultaneous connections (Failure)

Sent messages do NOT appear in Sent Items folder, but have been sent.

Drafts disappear from Outlook, but if I log into Gmail they are there.

Deleted messages do not appear in Deleted Items folder.

"People" tab has five choices for My Contacts:

Contacts (This computer only) which is empty.

Contacts - *** Email address is removed for privacy *** which has addresses.

Contacts - *** Email address is removed for privacy *** which has addresses and seems to be a duplicate of the above.

Suggested Contacts which has incomplete addresses that seem to be from people to whom I sent messages.

Contacts - CMc3com@Gmail which is empty.

How do I consolidate My Contacts into one file and get Outlook to use its folders properly?

Error Message
I constantly get the error message: The server for the account gmail returned the error (ALERT). Too many simultaneous connections (failure) Your username/password or your security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try reentering your password. I reenter my password and it keeps pooping up. How do I get rid of it?
outlook (2011 office for mac version) pops out this error message, which stalls my ability to use outlook.

it constantly asks me for my password, and although it gives me the option to save it in the keychain, it never does.

this error keeps occurring since the latest two office for mac software updates that i diligently downloaded and installed.

i reset the identity earlier today and the error still occurs twenty minutes later.

any thoughts on how to deal with this? MS only offered their support after charging me $49 for a one-off troubleshooting over the phone... needless, to say, i am trying not to pay that outrageous fee.

thank you for any suggestions.
