My issue is several months old now. After i switched from hotmail to outlook all of my contacts were present for some time. However, one time i logged on to see that my contacts list was completely empty. These are steps i took to try and fix it:

- I ignored the problem for a while thinking maybe it was a temporary error
- Today i clicked the "restore deleted contacts" button but it said no contacts to restore
- I used internet explorer and mozilla firefox instead of chrome browser. Same error on firefox, and outlook wouldn't open at all in explorer

Since then, i have managed to re-save only a handful of them but there are some very important contacts who i have no other means of talking to.

Here is the text of a chat I had with "Milan" at tech support.  The solution he proposed did not work. His response to my question is in parentheses and bolded.  ( Milan:  Okay, on the bottom right of that pop-up window, please make sure that "all files" is selected.) I am having two problems:  I cannot upload certain files to outlook emials when using explorer. When I open "documents" I used to have a folder called "my documents" available. When I opened it there were a number of sub-folders I could access to input as file attachments.  I can no longer do that.  I could always do it with hotmail.  Also, outlook is not putting emails into an established subfolder that is on my list.  Here's the wierd part 1. on Mozilla firefox it loads the mail into the subfolder it should, but on firefox I cannot download the attahcments.  So - I cannot find files I should be able to find on Outlook when using IE. I can upload files to outlook email when using Firebox.  Also, IE is not sending files to a specirfied folder, but it does send them to that folder in firefox.  What is going on?

I cannot open SOME of the emails in different folders. It appears to be completely random. How do I fix this problem. I seriously need to get at some of the emails which I have saved to my INSURANCE folder. My browser is Mozilla Firefox, and YES it's the latest version. PLEASE help me !!!!

Original title: Opening email in FOLDERS

I cannot send emails from my Windows Live Mail Hotmail account from the Windows task bar.  I have Vista on a Dell PC.  I am able to send emails from the Hotmail account in Mozilla Firefox.   I am also not able to send an email directly from a website that has an email address.  In other words, the email account will not automatically open when I click on the address on the website.  I have to copy and paste the email to my email account to send the email.
I can sign in. I can barely find "Options" on right, but can then log out. PROBLEM: I can't read, delete or send emails on my own computer. On my husband's computer re my account he can use the account normally: nothing is obscured on screen. I can use it if I switch to IE from Mozilla Firefox (my default browser). I de-installed Firefox and reinstalled it. Same problem. Many reoccurrences since last night.
Utilizing Mozilla firefox, I can sign in and out of Hotmail; however, I cannot open folders, or emails.  This just happened within the past week.  Other browsers allow me to sign in, out and view emails.  What can I do to recitify this problem with Mozilla firefox? thx
