Not all mail servers allow IMAP. Check with yours.

I have enabled IMAP in all my Virgin Media email accounts - but I cannot find any way to add any of those IMAP accounts in Windows Live Mail 2012?
Hello - I am using Microsoft Outlook 2011 Mac, and I am having difficulty with 2 IMAP accounts I have configured. The problem I am having is after configuring these accounts IMAP settings, Outlook connects to the accounts, but indicates "Sync Pending" (and no e-mail messages have been sync'd).

These 2 e-mail accounts are: GMail and Outlook.com. I would also like to note that neither of these e-mail accounts have large mailbox sizes (nothing close to 1Gb). Also, for the GMail accounts, I have enabled IMAP.

NONE of these accounts will sync (even though they have been configured correctly). I have even tried removing BOTH accounts, and only configured one of them (Outlook.com), but it makes no difference.  Here is the config I am using for the Outlook.com account:

I have also tried changing the Outgoing Server SSL port to 465 - makes no difference.

I have messed with these settings hoping it will work, such as unchecking the Sync all IMAP folders, enabling it and changing the interval from anywhere from 2 - 30 minutes. I have also tried checking the Use IMAP IDLE setting, with all possible combinations. To no avail, nothing works.

This is my Outlook version:

I am using the following Macbook Pro:

No matter what I change, I still receive:

I have rebuilt and deleted the Outlook Identity as well. Mind you, I have just installed Microsoft Office 2011 Mac, so my issues are not related to an existing installation that "all of a sudden stopped working".

If you ask me, the IMAP settings are broken, and simply don't work in Outlook 2011 Mac.

Is this a KNOWN ISSUE with Outlook 2011 mac, or has someone else figured out how to make this work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi all,

I'm using  Mavericks OS X 10.9 (13A603). Due to various reasons, I need to use Apple Mail to access my work's Exchange account. Tried to use the Apple Mail Exchange client, but it refused to display my company email signature on any email client other than Outlook Windows 2013. I also found that this would not allow me to create folders correctly, so I reverted to IMAP access and this is now handling my signature and folders correctly apart from one issue.

Moving an email from my inbox to an Exchange folder puts a copy of that message into the folder, and removes it from the IMAP inbox list, however, when I go to webmail or Outlook Mac or Outlook Windows, the message is still in the Inbox. I've allowed it up to three days to update and correctly show an empty inbox, but it doesn't happen. Although the IMAP inbox shows no messages, the Exchange Outlook inbox keeps the messages.

A) Email arrives in my Exchange hosted, but IMAP client accessed inbox in Apple Mail Version 7.0 (1822).
B) I move the message from the inbox to an Exchange folder, also using IMAP.
C) Apple Mail shows an empty inbox, signifying that it's been removed from the inbox.
D) The message is correctly located in the folder on both the IMAP representation and if I go into the webmail access portal or open Outlook Mac.
E) However, when I try to view my Exchange inbox via Outlook Mac or PC, or webmail, the inbox is still showing those messages as if they weren't moved.

There's a thread on the Apple Community (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20428894#20428894) where others are also experiencing the same issue with no resolutions being offered by the community so I decided to post a message about the issue here hoping that someone here may know of a solution.

Thanks!

I cannot download folders in live mail. I get the following message

our IMAP command could not be sent to the server, due to non-network errors. This could, for example, indicate a lack of memory on your system.

Configuration:
   Account: Cs (rgoldblatt10)
   Server: imap.cs.com
   Username: rgoldblatt10
   Protocol: IMAP
   Port: 143
   Secure(SSL): 0
   Code: 800ccc0e

I have reinstalled the program  without
 success

I use windows 7 and ie 10

Any help would be appreciated= please

Hi,

I use outlook to view three email accounts - two IMAP and one POP.  I changed the folder structure on my computer thinking that it would update on the other computers, but some folders appear and some don't!   Some just disappeared all together.   Also the emails are very slow to appear in the inbox - especially for the POP account.

How do I rectify this situation.

Regards,

Kim Russell

I want to change from a Pop3 to IMAP account. I use Outlook for MAC 2011. I want to change from POP3 to IMAP without having to get a new email address. I want to keep my existing one. Is this possible?
Wondering if there is a way to configure Outlook for imap instead of pop for my hotmail account.
Hi,

Is Outlook supports IMAP for external domains?

My supplier tells configure your mail with parameters:

Serwer type: IMAP
Domain: imap.mydomain.com
Port: 143

But Outlook.com has only "110" and "995" ports in settings:

My questions:
1. How configure Outlook.com with IMAP for external domains?
2. Does it works with Office 365 and Outlook Web App?

Hi

I set up my email to use IMAP for Outlook.com on Outlook 2011 for Mac. All has been working fine but since yesterday I keep getting the following error whilst trying to check my email

MAIL COULD NOT BE RECEIVED AT THIS TIME

The server for account xxxxxxx returned the error

Error 8: Server Error. Please try again later. Your

username/password or security settings may be

incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your

password?

The strange thing is it will connect to my deleted items or one of the folders I have set up in Outlook.com occasionally and sync them fine, but the majority of the folders won't sync and I get the above error. The fact it connects at all I assume means my username & password are correct.

I can't find any reference to this error code elsewhere so I've no idea how to correct this. I am not sure whether its my settings which are wrong (however, it has been working previously and nothing has changed) or its an Outlook.com error.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Marcus
