When I compose an email (plain text or HTML) in Outlook, it always replaces straight quotes with smart quotes. When I get a response from my email, my unwanted smart quote becomes a different character, usually a superscript one: ¹. In other words, I'm becomes I¹m. It makes my message look unprofessional.

Update: I also noticed that sometimes that "I'm" becomes "I’m" in the reply that I receive.

I noticed that Microsoft Word has a specific preference for this. It's under AutoCorrect, in the AutoFormat as You Type tab, in the the Replace as you type section. There's a checkbox labeled: "Straight quotation marks" with "smart quotation marks"

Can Outlook get the same preference?

In the meantime, is there anyway to fix this?

Hello outlook team,

I need help in the feature Auto-correct spelling on the Outlook.com website. It does not work when I use all capitals when using Internet Explorer 10.

This is necessary for me because of my disability with visual impairment. I am use this method all the time when creating emails.

I also ask my contacts to do the same when replying on my emails.

I hope you can find a solution for me.

Thank you and will wait for your reply.

I mistakenly added a misspelled word to the auto correct feature in Windows Live Mail, and now I can't find that list and can't change it back. As an example, I corrected the misspelling of boat (I had baot) and clicked on auto correct. Now I can't find the list of misspelled words to change it to the correct spelling. I thought it would be in MS Word, but it's not.
HI thanks but what i mean is auto complete not auto correct.
this is the feature which gives us option to choose the email address out of the available ones by the same name after entering just first few characters of the person's name or email id  in To, CC or BCC.  any suggestions how i can get this feature to work or reset, it was working fine when i was using outlook on my pervious mac book but after migrating all the data through time capsule to new one with retina, its not working
Why did MS get rid of the autocorrect button in the spelling checker for Outlook?

It is a fundamental part of my efficiency since I am a poor typist and I make many consistent errors. In Entourage the process is much speedier as I can type much faster when the autocorrect function is working. In Outlook, I have to pause, call up the spell check, then can only correct the word at that moment. I assume there is no autocorrect learning going on in the background.

Am I missing something, or is it really the case that MS has removed the autocorrect function? Or is the last line in the SpellCheck window list  (Correct Spelling Automatically) meant to do this? If so, it is not working in my case. Is there a way to make it work?
