Running Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail, for no apparent reason WLM suddenly got stuck, reporting in the bottom right corner, that it is "Updating calendar..." I have never used the calendar in the 12 months I have been running WLM (I don't even display it) and have never updated it at all. However, now that WLM is permanently stuck in this updating mode, I can neither send nor receive emails until I shut WLM down and reopen it when I get a brief window of opportunity to perform its normal functions, after which it returns to calendar updating mode and it might as well not be running at all. I tried going to Cotrol Panel/Programs and repair Windows Essentials (this was suggested by someone) but it didn't work.
What to do?
I'm somewhat new to WLM. When coming from a previous XP, EI8 computer, I transferred my internet settings into my new Win7, EI9 program. WLM worked perfectly right from the beginning. A couple of days into my use of WLM, at some point I was presented with a sign in page, and I entered my email address and password, thinking that it was necessary. However, ever since then, whenever I hit the email icon in the bottom tray or "read email" in the command line of IE9, a sign-in pop-up appears every time, even though, behind it, WLM is already checking and downloading email. I just cancel the pop up each time, but it's an annoyance that I don't want to experience for ever! How do I remove that pop-up sign-in?
Would value help! Thanks!
- I updated from Windows Live Mail 2011 to 2012. Two things happened. I can no longer send an email to a group. I get an error message which says "the message cannot be sent. Type an email address for one or more recipients in the TO, CC or BCC box." Obviously an unacceptable situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- The helpful ribbon at the top has disappeared. I now have a barebones menu with many fewer choices. is there a way to restore the ribbon? Thanks very much!
