Running Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail, for no apparent reason WLM suddenly got stuck, reporting in the bottom right corner, that it is "Updating calendar..."  I have never used the calendar in the 12 months I have been running WLM (I don't even display it) and have never updated it at all.  However, now that WLM is permanently stuck in this updating mode, I can neither send nor receive emails until I shut WLM down and reopen it when I get a brief window of opportunity to perform its normal functions, after which it returns to calendar updating mode and it might as well not be running at all. I tried going to Cotrol Panel/Programs and repair Windows Essentials (this was suggested by someone) but it didn't work.

What to do?

I am talking about WLM and the error msg  error code 81000494 which may have been answered in the past.   My WLM keeps dropping out all the time, tho all the other programs are still on line.     Is it work being done at your end, otherwise, how do I stop it dropping out?

I'm using WLM in Win7Professional.   Frequently an e-mail header displays in the list pane,  but the associated contents of a selected message have been reduced to a .txt or .html attachment.  Have tried different settings in the reading pane,  but 9 times out of 10 the contents of a given message are not displayed,  and can't be accessed when you try to open that message.  Any suggestions?
I have used WLM for some time (years) with no problems.
About a week ago, for no apparent reason, it stopped receiving my emails from my Hotmail account.  (I can see the emails when I log in direct to Hotmail.)
When I try to receive, it just hangs for about 15 minutes, then reports that it is unable to receive, and quotes a server error.....

Server Error    Ox80072EFF
 Server :   https://mail-services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
WLM Error ID :   Ox80072EFF

I have not knowingly made any changes to my PC to precipitate this problem, but I do use automatic updates and I know that Windows 7 has been updated.

I have checked for any virus, but none found.

Can some expert provide a solution please?

I'm somewhat new to WLM. When coming from a previous XP, EI8 computer, I transferred my internet settings into my new Win7, EI9 program. WLM worked perfectly right from the beginning. A couple of days into my use of WLM, at some point I was presented with a sign in page, and I entered my email address and password, thinking that it was necessary. However, ever since then, whenever I hit the email icon in the bottom tray or "read email" in the command line of IE9, a sign-in pop-up appears every time, even though, behind it, WLM is already checking and downloading email. I just cancel the pop up each time, but it's an annoyance that I don't want to experience for ever! How do I remove that pop-up sign-in?

Would value help! Thanks!

  • I updated from Windows Live Mail 2011 to 2012.  Two things happened.  I can no longer send an email to a group.  I get an error message which says "the message cannot be sent.  Type an email address for one or more recipients in the TO, CC or BCC box." Obviously an unacceptable situation.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • The helpful ribbon at the top has disappeared. I now have a barebones menu with many fewer choices.  is there a way to restore the ribbon?  Thanks very much!

I am using Windows Live Mail to manage my email. When I want to send or forward an email containing pictures WLM wants to put the pictures in a slide show which nearly always completely destroys the tone, intent, impact, and/or creates a new message that is ineffective.

Even if I am generating a new email I try to insert a picture or two in the body of my email and it rips them out and puts them in a slide show, which makes no sense when I place a picture in the middle of text describing it.

How can I turn this function off completely?
