In Vista. Hard drive crashed but data can be accessed. I need to grab whatever files/folders pertaining to Windows Live Mail from the old drive, and transfer them to another computer (that has Windows Live Mail installed on it).
Where do I find the necessary files/folders on the old hard drive?
What files/folders do I need to capture?
Once I paste them in the new computer, how do I load the old messages into Windows Live Mail? It can't be done with the import/export function in the program itself.
Thanks.
Raymond
The unread mail folder has disappeared from the folders column.
I have looked in Quick Views there are two lines referring to unread messages/email, one is checked but not highlighted and one is checked and highlighted.
Can anyone help me to get the Unread folder to appear again?
I am using Live Mail there is no reference to it in the selection topics so I trust I am in the correct forum.
Eddie

Original title: Windows Live Mail & Accounts De-linking
I use Windows Live Mail to manage my multiple Hotmail accounts. Will this be affected by the new account de-linking?
I use Windows Live Mail on my desktop, Windows 7, and every so often I transfer files over as backup unto a laptop.
I had Windows live mail on the laptop, Windows XP, but had a problem transferring the mail stuff over to it. I copied the mail folders but deleted the software from the Programs Folder in the hope of reinstalling it and then merging the new installaiton to my saved data folders. Well I cannot! Everything seems to install OK. When I go ctrl + Alt + Del sure enough it says WLMail is running but I can't see it. Also it is running in processes. When it seemed to install Ok I noticed it never got so far as to create a desktop icon etc. which usually happens when one installs new software. Looks like the installation process did not complete itself. I tried deleting everything using the Microsoft Fix It progam, the installation and uninstallation part, until blue in the face and tried over and over all day long even googling fruitlessly for answers but still nothing changed for me. Any ideas what the problem might be so I can fix it.
