I have a thousand or so unread emails in my gmail inbox.  How can I sort my inbox to read and unread or other means to group these unread messages and delete them?

My Inbox folder shows I have 14 unread emails but I have checked and read all of them.   Even when I have sorted it to unread emails, the 14 mails does not show.  How can I check and remove it?

I noticed that whenever I read all of my emails in outlook or in live mail, all of my emails in yahoo become read even if I still have a lot of unread emails. How do you stop this from happening? Recently, I haven't logged in to outlook or windows live mail because I don't want to lose track of all of my unread emails.

Thanks for whatever help or input your can give me.

Sharon

My inbox shows that I have "X" number of unread emails (11) but I can only find less of them (4). Where are the rest of them?

Only when using outlook.com site, Inbox shows 1 unread email message where none exists that I am aware of.  Using Win 8.1 Pro on 3 different PC's.  Neither latest Mail app nor desktop version of Outlook 2013 show any unread emails on any of the 3 different PC's though outlook.com displays same 1 1 unread email on all.

Have attempted multiple times on outlook.com, first selected "all" emails in my Inbox and marked "unread before read" with no affect.  All other functions appear normal.  Suspect it is an issue at the outlook.com site.  Suggestions or ideas?

Old Title:  Why does.my email say I have email when I don't have any unopened

My Access my hotmail thru my IPad email.  But instead of reading no emails to be read it says I have 48 unread?  Drives me nuts!  Thanks!

Screenshot:

As you can see, my inbox shows (and has shown for months) 56 unread messages, when in fact there are none. I've used different browsers, different computers, cleared cookies and cache, etc. This is not a client-side issue.

This issue persists on the web version, but the mobile version does not display any such unread count.

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: Further, while trying to post this question on Chrome, it persistently tells me that I haven't filled out all of the fields and won't let me post.
Outlook.com is one of the most poorly designed Microsoft sites I've ever seen. Again, this is an issue that persists on multiple systems and after clearing cookies, cache, etc.
Outlook says that I have 250 unread emails but when I click to show the unread emails nothing shows up. I use chrome and mozilla which I have optimized both browsers and have checked the POP settings.  The amount of unread emails grows daily and I cant figure out where these emails are.

The unread mail folder has disappeared from the folders column.

I have looked in Quick Views there are two lines referring to unread messages/email, one is checked but not highlighted and one is checked and highlighted.

Can anyone help me to get the Unread folder to appear again?

I am using Live Mail there is no reference to it in the selection topics so I trust I am in the correct forum.
