Hi I just started using Windows Live Mail and everything was going fine but then when I started to send photos via email this problem occurred and now I can't send anything at all. I tried deleting all the email accounts and add them in again but doesn't help.

Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Hi there .....I am unable to send emails from Windows Live Mail (but I am receiving them). I get this error message:

A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server.

I have checked with my ISP and all the account set up details are correct. They say it must be "a software problem".

I have hundreds of emails in my Inbox/Sent Items and I don't really want to risk losing them by uninstalling WLM (or having to store them somewhere else).

Are there any other potential solutions to my problem ?

I have been using Windows 7 for more than 2 years with Windows Live Mail for my e-mail program, having previously had XP with Outlook Express mail.

When for back-up I export my Windows Live Mail to an External Flash Drive (via a file created for this in My Docs), soon after downloading begins I get the message "this file has properties which cannot be exported.  Do you want to Export anyway?"  with the options "Skip" and "Skip all".   I always have continued by saying 'yes' and choosing the "Skip all" option, optimistically presuming the 'properties' referred to are not important.

However, from a question on this Forum which I recently saw and the questioner's responses to the replies he got (I couldn't find the actual answer) I gathered that if "Skip" is selected, the messages will not be saved in a form which would repopulate the program in a readable format.  i.e., I am not in fact backing up my Windows Live messages at all.

Can you tell me what is meant by "messages  have properties that cannot be exported" and whether it is a fact that I can't back up messages in a re-importable form without installing a dedicated program for the purpose – free for a trial period only.  This would seem to me incredible, when my old computer with Windows XP was able to save and reimport messages into its "Outlook Express" Mail programme.

[Moved from feedback]

Clicking on "mailto" links on web pages doesn't open my mail client, Windows Live Mail, running in Vista Home Premium. Windows Mail is still installed, and doesn't open either as expected, since Windows Live Mail is the default. This is the case in IE, Chrome, FF and Safari browsers. If Windows Live Mai was never set as default that might explain this behavior. Can anyone tell me where WinLiveMail is set as the default mail handler? Or is the problem with it being on Vista?

W L M bounces due to port 25. How do I change it to 995  I'm running Win 7 64 bit & IE 10.

I am using Windows Live Mail in Windows7 to send to smtp.demon.co.uk and receive from mail.demon.co.uk. However some deleted e-mails are returned with the recipient the same as the sender.

If I access the account via https://webmail.demon.co.uk which shows a Microsoft Outlook Web App all seems OK

Please help.
