Hi.  Up until the recent OS upgrade for my Mac Air, I was happily able to sync (via cable) my Outlook Calendar and Contacts quite happily (via iTunes).  However, now I can't get anything to sync, and Apple support claim it's down to MS.  I'm then forced to use their iCloud which I don't want.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Windows Live Mail Calendar entries made on my computer used to sync to my Android phone.  That has stopped.  How do I make them sync.  Entries made on the Android calendar have never synced back to the Windows Live Calendar.  At least I could add entries to my phone from my computer and they would be in both places.
I'm using the latest version of Outlook 2011 for Mac 14.3.8 on a new Macbook Pro (Mavericks), but Outlook crashes, requiring a force close each time as it finishes the sync.

I'm syncing with Googlemail via IMAP and have about 40,000 emails in my Google account. This worked fine on a PC, using Google Apps Sync, which isn't available on a Mac.

All 40,000 emails seemed to synch OK, and the sync appears to finish or almost finish (just 20 or so left sometimes), but then Outlook just crashes (multi-coloured pinwheel of death) requiring a forced close. When you run it again, it tries to synch again and then crashes again.

Is there a limit to the number of emails you can sync through IMAP? Or is this another problem?

Please help.

Many thanks & regards
Bill

I recently acquired a Windows 8 (Upgraded to 8.1) Desktop computer and find that none of my Skydrive files show in the desktop directory even though they sync properly on both my Surface Desktop (Win 8.1) and my WP7.5.
I've noticed a number of users complaining that their Skydrive won't sync in 8.1 but in my case, it still worked on my upgraded Surface so I don't think that 8.1 is the problem per se.
I've noticed that Properties - Security of the Sky drive directory uses my Gmail address for me as a user as opposed to my Hotmail address which relates to Windows live. Indeed, the Surface uses my Hotmail address. Could the problem relate to how I defined myself on the new computer. If so, how do I convince it that I'm really the Hotmail guy also?

SkyDrive syncing problems ALL FIXED!

SkyDrive is working! Like many of you I had problems syncing SkyDrive in Windows 8.1. I liked the idea of SkyDrive being my main file system as long as it also gave me the ability to keep my files on my PC. It does with the “Make available offline” option.

What I did to fix SkyDrive were a couple of things.

  • 1. I checked the SkyDrive sync engine host in task manager to see that it was working. It was.
  • 2. I looked for a blue overlay on the folder that was trying to sync and did not see it.
  • 3. I right clicked on the folder that was trying to sync and then clicked “view problems”

This step was the most helpful step. It showed me sub folders that had stopped the sync process. Folders like “my pictures” that was still in the online version of SkyDrive but NOT in the “my document” folder in Explorer Windows 8.1. Every time I looked at the online version I was using the SkyDrive metro app. What I was actually doing was manually syncing the folders with what was in SkyDrive online and what I saw in SkyDrive in Explorer. Since the online version of “My pictures” was empty, I deleted it. Now the online list matched the Explorer list. In both online and in Explorer I did not have a folder called “My Pictures” Now it is time to repeat step 3 to find another bogus folder.

In-between each deletion of a folder to match the online list and the Explorer list, I checked the sync engine. I also rebooted a number of times just to make sure everything was updating and the sync engine was picking up the changes. After each deletion I would go back to step 3 to see what folder was stopping the sync process. After a couple of rounds of this, sync started working great.

What started the problem for me was a renaming of my two major folders. “Paul word documents” and “Paul publisher documents”. ALL of my documents are stored in these two folders. They were not uploaded once I renamed the folder to “A Paul word documents”. That put it at the top of my list for easier access.

Just to make sure that sync was working I moved my two “A” folders out of SkyDrive to my desktop. Rebooted and then moved them back onto SkyDrive. The sync process worked like a charm. I saw the SkyDrive sync engine working. I saw a blue overlay on the folder meaning it was syncing. I looked at SkyDrive online through the Metro App and saw the "document" folder being populated with my “A” folders. I even created this document and put it in a new folder in Explorer. Within moments it appeared online with SkyDrive metro. It did take hours for the Sync to complete. My “A” folders are huge but I still have only used half of my 7 gig storage.

Try that right click, view problems to fix your SkyDrive. I am very pleased with SkyDrive again. I have been a user of SkyDrive for a long time.

My exist window 7 have to reinstall later,
I using SkyDrive client and the sync folder path is on C:/ (the OS partition).

I move all the file to external harddisk, and format C:/, install new Window 7 OS.
When i install the dropbox client back, the file will download immediately.

So how can i recover my sync folder?
I thinking just copy and paste my file from external harddisk to the sync folder.
But do dropbox client will treat that is new file and sync to server? or make any conflict?

Please help.
I have 3 windows 7 computers synced on skydrive (57 GB).

I bought a new windows 8 computer, using a external drive I transferred the files in the skydrive folder from one of the windows 7 computers to the new computer thinking this would save time by not having to transfer them over the internet. I then downloaded The desktop app and set the folder to sync.

The new computer did still go through the sync process, when it got to about having 7 GB done of 52 GB I get a message that the skydrive folder if full. But when I go to skydrive.com it shows that I still have 5GB free.

Hello,

My Android Calendar will not sync to Outlook.com Calendar.

Though, my Outlook.com Calendar will sync to my Android (SOMETIMES).

I need to be able to put a calendar entry in my Android calendar and have it show up (sync) on my Outlook.com Calendar so that when I review my calendar for the day/week on Windows 8/Outlook.com, everything is there CONSISTENTLY.

How do I fix this to make it a bi-directional sync without worries that I will miss my appointments.

Thank you in advance for your help.
