Hi,

My laptop, running Windows 7, died, and so my hard drive was put into an enclosure so that I can retrieve my data. My new laptop runs Windows 8.

I was using Windows Live - not synced up online, just offline on my laptop - for my calendar.

I can go into my old hard drive and find the Windows Live folder, and under Mail find a bunch of files, including the Mail application. However, the Mail application won't open.

I would like to be able to retrieve the data from my calendar, but am out of ideas about how to do so. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Sean

I've been having a huge problem and even the technical support guys I use are stumped!

I have a calendar in Windows Live that has always sync'd with my calendar on my iPhone-apparently because the calendar on my phone was set up as an Exchange account/calendar. I am now using Outlook for Mac and we can't get the calendar to sync with either the phone or WLM calendar. However, Apple have advised that if I can get Outlook on my Windows Vista machine (the one I use WLM on) I can then sign into my ??? (icloud or exchange account)?..go to icloud control panel and somehow sync them. Basically, the calendar that I want is sitting under my Exchange (heading) on my iPhone-I need it to sit under "icloud".

I don't mind not being able to use the calendar in Outlook (if it doesn't sync with anything)-I understand Outlook for Windows does more stuff than Outlook for Mac)? but I'd like to be able to access my (current) Exchange calendar on www.icloud.com so that I can start to use that calendar so that I can have access to my calendar on both my Mac and Windows PC.

Does anyone know what I am talking about:). If yes, you are a star!

I have yet to explain to my tech guys what Apple have advised and hope they understand. They were thinking I might have to rely on using my Windows Live calendar (via the "Live" website) on both computers but I really don't like that website; it's not as user friendly or smooth-operating as the icloud.

If you know what I am on about and can break down what I need to do step by step, I'd be grateful!

I am trying to figure out a way to get my Windows Live calendar into my Google calendar so I can see it on my smartphone.  Does anyone know how to do this please? Thank you.

getting error message in my email:

There was an error when attempting to connect to the Windows Live Calendar service. If the error persists, check to see if there's an upgrade of Windows Live Mail available or contact a service representative.

No upgrade of Windows Live Mail available.  Any suggestion how to resolve?

I just upgraded from Windows 7 (BEST THING EVER DEVELOPED) to, sadly, Windows 8.1.  Under 7 I had been using Windows Live Mail and the terrific calendar on my PC.  After upgrading to 8.1, all mail and all calendar content (doctor appointments, everything!) vanished.  There is no Windows Live apparently.  After googling for ages, I suspect the unreadable content is in 'windows.old' files.  Is there a way I can restore/retrieve this data?  Can I install WINDOWS LIVE (or is it WINDOWS ESSENTIALS) onto my now Windows 8.1 machine?  Thanks for any information/education.

Windows Live Mail Calendar entries made on my computer used to sync to my Android phone.  That has stopped.  How do I make them sync.  Entries made on the Android calendar have never synced back to the Windows Live Calendar.  At least I could add entries to my phone from my computer and they would be in both places.
