I recently (yesterday) lost the ability to send and receive mail within Live Mail. Error Message:

Unable to send or receive messages for the MSN account.

Server Error: 0x800488EB
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

I tried the fixes offered by Mary V., but to no avail. I'm at a loss as to why Live Mail stopped working, as no changes were made to system prior to failure. I have switched to Outlook for now.

Hi! I am trying to install Live Mail on my new PC with Windows 8.1. I can not send or receive e-mails. I get the following message:

Server: 'localhost'
Windows Live Mail Fel-ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protokoll: POP3
Port: 995
Secure (SSL): Ja
Socket-fel: 10061

Can you help me?

Regards from Roger

HI   I recently did a fresh install of windows 7 on my PC, windows live mail will now only recognise 1 of 2 hotmail accounts, and also it will not recognise my tiscali and talk talk mail account, all these accounts worked perfectly before the fresh installation, I have tried adding and removing the accounts several times this has not worked, I have checked all the passwords and they are correct can you assist

i have live mail 2012 and it receives my charter.net mail and my hot mail. i go to live mails charter accounts properties button but there is no box to uncheck for leaving mail on server under advanced tab. any ideas?

I can't send email (can receive) with live mail (just started last week off and on at first). I have checked with my internet provider and the settings are all correct - I can send an email through their web email site (not blacklisted). I have ran Norton and malware scans. I uninstalled and reinstalled live mail and still won't work. I have ran it through the Windows troubleshooter. Running out of options...

The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***', please contact your email service provider.

Subject 'test'
Server Error: 450
Server Response: 450 4.7.1 <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>: Recipient address rejected: Policy Rejection- Blacklisted for abuse. Please contact support.

ugh the windows "troubleshooter"

As the title suggests my mail inbox says there are messages, but when I open them they do not appear. but if I send a message to myself it does , and when I delete it and empty the deleted box, up come my messages, please can anyone help?

I Can't set up Live mail to use my att e-mail account. The att folks couldn't help me. I want to transfer my Outlook Express e-mails and address books to Live Mail, but the latter won't handle POP mail. I tried to change the setting in Live Mail to LMAP from POP, but it still didn't work. Can this be done?

All of a sudden, Live Mail can't send my outgoing messages, because it says my outgoing server address is incorrect.  I have checked my account settings and the address is correct there, but Live Mail shows it with an extra letter in the error report.   How can I fix this?

Some of the emails I receive in Windows Live Mail 2012 on a Windows 7 64-bits seem to be completely empty.
I can reproduce the problem with a fresh installation of Live Mail 2012 on a Windows 8 32-bits system

I noted:

  • When I print the mail, only the header is printed, no content
  • The mail content is visible at  gmail.com and in clients Live Mail 2009 (XP), outlook 2013 and  windows phone
  • When I click on reply all text and pictures become visible
  • So far I have only had this problem with mail from 1 sender, but not all mail from that sender is affected.
In fact it only occurs with automated replies from that sender. The sender has not seen this problem before.
  • I use Windows 7 with standard firewall and Security Essentials. Windows is fully patched, 64 bits
  • I have tried to solve this by using the repair function in control panel and by compressing the database though the problem occurs also with a fresh installation on W8.

What could be wrong?

I need a how to that will help me negotiate live mail. My outlook express dissapeared when it was installed. The lay out is proving nearly impossible for me to work with. I lost all my contacts, and If live mail is able to save them I dont know how or where they go. Outlook saved everyone I emailed for me and gave me a place to keep them and delete later at my discretion. I don't understand the way it saves multiple emails together or how to open them properly. to make matters worth it wont stay open long enough to even send a email. it keeps crashing within a few seconds of opening up. I have tried to delete and reinstall it but i cant get that to happen either. Please help me out of this nightmare
