Hi,

I’m like to be able to set up a filter that marks certain emails as read, but it doesn’t appear to be possible from within the Outlook.com settings. Can it be done?

What I’m trying to do is set up a filter that matches email in the junk folder and automatically marks it as read, and another filter that matches emails that are sent to the delete folder (marking them as read also). At the moment, I’m using the Windows 8 Mail app, and I see loads of emails appearing in my junk/deleted folders that haven’t yet been read—I don’t want to read these emails, so would rather have them automatically set to read if possible.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dylan

The following types of junk mail continues to plague my inbox.  It all just started recently, so there is a huge problem Microsoft is NOT addressing.  I have seen others complain and all the moderators tell you to do is set up a filter, but that DOES NOT work.  They are also leaving the first FROM blank, so it gets past any filters.

But I also want to know how they are faking that they are in my contact list when they are NOT?

Please fix this mess or I will go back to gmail as my primary email account.  The new Outlook.com has been great and the interface is so much more appealing than gmail, but at least gmail is filtering the spam.

These are the types getting through by saying they are in my contact list, though they are not:
*** Email address is removed for privacy *** on behalf of Free E-Cig Samples (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) This sender is in your contact list

Others are getting though by leaving the first FROM blank, so is there a way to set up a NULL filter in OUTLOOK.COM?
