Dear Microsoft Community,

My SO has been locked out of Instagram and her reset password email was sent to an old Hotmail account. When trying to log into said Hotmail account, it says "That Microsoft account does not exist.". We have tried to reset password on that account but due to it being non-existent, it didn't work. I red somewhere that after inactivity of 365 days, a Hotmail account would be deleted. Is there a way to retrieve that email?

Thinking that if it was deleted and the email account was sent back into the system (For re-use I assume), I then tried to create a new email using the same account name. I then got this error saying "This email address is part of a reserved domain such as live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com. Please enter a different email address.".

I can't reset the email of the Instagram account without logging in and when looking for help there they told me to contact Microsoft.

Is there any solution to this problem?

Outlook/Hotmail unable to receive any email but will forward to another account

Earlier today, Sunday, August 4, 2013 I lost the ability to receive any emails into my "hotmail" account. I have checked settings, blocked senders, etc. and all seem to be normal. I found the option to "forward" my incoming emails to another email account which seems to work. I have tested in IE, FireFox, different computers, iPhone, iPad and the behavior is the same; emails are not coming into the "hotmail" account. I have checked throughout the day; removing the "forward" option from time to time, testing, then resetting the "forward" option as no test messages (even sent from my hotmail account to myself) are received. Has my account been hacked? My antivirus is up-to-date, I do not spend alot of time browsing on the Internet or open emails from unknown parties.

I have Outlook 2011 for Mac and it tells me that to add an email account, go to tools then accounts. The problem is there is no accounts for me to click on. The tools menu only lets me access; My Day, Import, Export, Sync Services, Schedules, Mailing list, Progress, Errors and the Online/Offline mode. HELP PLEASE!!! ( In the tools menu there is also Out of Office and Public Folders but I cannot click on those options)

My email account was hacked and all the recovery info changed so I cannot get back in. The hacker changed my password, alternate email address, phone number, security questions, etc. They proceeded to send an email to my contact list stating that I am out of town and my purse was stolen and I need money. I am in fact on vacation right now so this email is quite believable to some of my contacts. I only hope they have not responded to this scammer. I also have important bank account info in my email (I realize this isn't smart) that I'm afraid the hacker now has.

The first day I could not attempt a password reset because the system told me I'd already done it too many times and to wait 24 hours. I then submitted a support request and did not receive a response at all. It has been over 24 hours. I have since tried to recover my account again and sent the validation form. I got a response rather quickly that it couldn't be verified and to try again. I tried again and now the response was that I should just make a new account. I tried to use the chat function and both times the customer service team could not help me. I sent another request for support.

Who can I talk to? This is getting to be ridiculous that no one can help me reset my account so I can advise family that I was hacked and try to salvage my account. Letting a hacker have all my info for this long is unacceptable and no one at Microsoft seems to care about this security issue. It has taken me a long time to even get this forum post to work. It keeps telling me to try again later.

Need some help....My son has a email account which is attached to xbox live.Xbox recently have upped their security and need more info added to your account...fantastic.However my son can not remember his password.I have filled out a questionnaire form as an email link was sent to the email account which we can not get into.It has been over 48 hours and as I was not involved in creating his email the information I sent to them was limited,he seems to of forgotten everything.What can I do next as he is getting upset as he will lose all his xbox things.Is there any other way of resetting this passwors

Received email 7-31-13 that I had requested my email account be deactivated and deleted and that I needed to click on "secure youremail accountverify" to cancel within 24 hours or it would be deleted. This was sent by *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. Is this spam or what? It was signed by "outlook service".

unable to log in/retrieve my emails

hi, my daughter is having trouble accessing her emails, we have tried everything imaginative.

firstly she tried to log into her email account and it did not work, it then said "it looks as though someone else is trying to use this email account"

so she went ahead to fill out the form to prove the account was hers, she had to provide recent emails she'd received/sent of which she could only remember a few as she can't access her emails to see what the addresses are, she also had to provide password changes but she has never changed the password so there wasn't enough information.

she contacted Microsoft and provided my email as an alternate, they gave her a number/code, shortly after I received an email from Microsoft, I gave them the number/code she was given then I received another email from Microsoft which again had a form to fill out so she filled it out and then I never got another email back.

she left it a few days then tried to log in her email account again but sadly no luck so she filled out the form again this time she gave her boyfriends email for them to contact, he received an email saying "they were unable to verify the account was hers with the information provided and that they've now blocked her email account until they can verify its hers, to prevent further use and to protect from possible malicious activity"

NOTE: she has tried to log in on both laptop and mobile device (none work)

could anyone please help my daughter get her email account back, thanks in advance

I set up a special hotmail.com email address months ago so that i could have guests email me their RSVP's

I now can not access this email account and I have tried to set up another account but i can only select hotmail.co.uk or outlook.com

I really do not want to have all my invitations re printed to include a new email address, is there anyway this email address can still be used/accessed??

My hotmail account that I've had for 7 years has been hacked. Everything was normal until I attempted to update my mail and got a message saying my password does not match the updated server password. My recovery email is long lost and apparently I have insufficient proof of the email account which is a joke as I still have all my mail prior to being denied access, I can send them a damn picture of my screen. What the heck do I do? Everything is linked to this account!
